  1. Hi all, My DCC fitted Jinty, is causing my Hornby Select to reset/trip every time I place it on the layout. Other locos are running fine. This one sat on the layout for several months without being run. When we went to play with the layout last night, it momentarily started, then stopped and the Select (with latest firmware) started flashing. At first I thought the Select had failed till I removed the Jinty from the layout and all ran normally. Pressing the red Stop/Reset button has no effect. Green, red lights flash till I remove the loco from the layout. Maybe I have a fried decoder ? I checked the underside of the loco to check for foreign objects etc. The layout is inside the house in a well kept, clean room. No damp, humidity etc. Any thoughts ? Kev.
  2. @AndyP. Hi Andy, my cars are mostly digital. I have the ARC PRO powerbase. What settings do I need to change to allow freewheeling & realistic braking ? I assume this is a similar setup like my GaugeMaster train controller that simulates the same. At the moment, they just stop abruptly when you release the trigger. Kev.
  3. @AndyP When I let go of the trigger on my Arc Pro setup, the cars simply stop dead. No coasting. I really wish the cars would coast/freewheel till braked. Kev.
  4. The Hornby Railmaster software also leaves a lot to be desired. It looks & performs like something from the 1980's running on a Commodore 64. The Arc App seems a little more up to date than the Railmaster offering. Not by much though. When will Hornby hire some decent software developers ? I'm a train buff as well as cars. Kev.
  5. Hi Andy, I wish I could make all my cars 'coast' and have realistic braking. I'd like to be able to put a car on the track, no power, and give it a wee push and it would coast like a die cast. To me, that would be so cool and realistic. I have this feature on a Gaugemaster Train controller, so no idea why it can't be done with slot cars ? Kev.
  6. Hi KnightOwl, I did the same. I broke the drivers side mirror off the challenger. Lucky I found it on the floor (smaller than a grain of rice). I will superglue it back on when I get a chance. It's going to be very fiddly. Still a great set. Kev.
  7. Thanks Andy, I will take that advice on board. I'm lucky to have a 2nd power supply if needed, (from my Hornby Elite controller) that I've never used ! I'm 100% certain they are the exact same power supply. Kev.
  8. Hi all, Are there any 'remedies' for digital cars stalling over lane change points ? They also seem to momentarily suffer a power surge as they cross. Maybe some conductive paint in the right spot ? Thanks Kev.
  9. Hi all, When I press the brake button on my Arc Pro controllers, the cars just stop dead. Is there any way to adjust braking to be more realistic (sensitive) or is that it ? Also, with my Model Railway, I have a Gaugemaster controller that has 'inertia' and braking simulation. Is there any way to simulate this with slot cars. To simulate free wheeling and realistic braking would be so cool. Kev.
  10. Hi Andy, You are correct. I was getting confused with Magic App. Pity Arc Pro App doesn't. My iPad is in a case and I use it exclusively in landscape mode. Is there anywhere I can make a request for this feature in upcoming releases ? Kev.
  11. Is there any way to display the Arc Pro app in landscape mode on an ipad ? It will on my iphone, but it only displays in portrait on my ipad pro. Kev.
  12. Hi Andy, The track pieces arrived today and the track fits together perfectly. Cars are running around and all working great. Thanks for all the advice. Cheers, Kev.
  13. I have both and much prefer AnyRail. Far easier to use and intuitive. I can even use it for my Scalextric layouts & with 2 clicks I can print out my layouts parts (to take to your hobby store) and the overall length of the track. Kev.
  14. I'm limited for space too, but managed to fit 9'.2" x 4' ft in my shed. I was hoping to go a little larger, but that is it. I found a layout on You Tube I copied that uses all the space available and turns back on itself (if that makes sense). Hopefully the last few pieces of track I need will turn up this week. Fingers crossed it all fits and lines up. Cheers Kev.
  15. Thanks Andy, I have no idea how you guys create those huge, stadium sized, indoor layouts for competitive racing. Must take some serious calculations and know how. I just hope my modest track layout all meets up as designed.grinning Kev.
  16. Hi guys, I just bought a 2nd Scalextric set and some extra R1 curves, a Pit Lane etc to put together my new, larger layout. I've entered it all into my design software and it all fits together great, but the final track piece (where it meets the first), don't line up. They seem to be out by a 1/2" or so in the vertical and slightly overlapping. Not a lot, but a concern. Will this be an issue with the actual track or can these design apps/programs have an element of screen distortion ? I can't see anywhere in my proposed layout where there could be an issue. And if there is, how on earth does one go about hunting it down and what pieces need replacing or leaving out ? I don't know yet as I'm still waiting on a few pieces of track to arrive. Kev.
  17. I just bought this awesome set. It has a good amount of track and accessories and 2 really cool DPR Cars ! Great value. Kev.
  18. Hi Barry, I have the DeLorean BTTF too. A great car, nice detail. Not sure about the separate lightning conductor though. I've left that in the plastic. Just something to snap in half or lose in the carpet !grinning Yes, a regular production model would be good. I'd buy one. Kev.
  19. Hi Andy, I bought a Slot.It chip. The LED is built into the chip so you are very limited and it won't work in the Cooper S. I just wanted to make sure I bought one with the LED on a separate lead. The only chips I have experience with is the EasyFit. Kev.
  20. Thanks Andy, I looked at this chip, but I couldn't see the separate LED lead. Cheers Kev.
  21. Thanks Andy, I had watched this video before, but I still can't work out what chip he used.? It needs to have that same wiring harness configuration with the LED sensor on a separate wire. I've looked at many different chips on eBay including Slot.It models, But I cant find any with that style harness. Cheers Kev.
  22. Can anyone suggest a chip that will fit and work with a Scalextric Mini Cooper S ? Thanks Kev.
