@Dominic Thomas Caution (or needing to build confidence) seems perfectly natural - a possible way to overcome this might be to take a variety of photos as a build progresses & then only post the stages if ultimately successful. That way you can enjoy the satisfaction of demonstrating achievements - whilst nobody is wiser of any learning experiences! 😉

By that logic - no manufacturer should ever allow the general public to see any development stage (CAD, running samples, painted samples etc.) without expecting the response to be an immediate demand of “where’s mine?” This concept of expectation/entitlement simply bewilders me. 🤷‍♂️

@Thomas-349483 genuine question - are you aware that the dates are in a column headed ETA? (which stands for Estimated Time of Arrival) Your comments re lateness & disgraceful suggest not.

Since interface changes are a marmite subject… Whilst some will be very happy that RM retains what they know & enjoy, others will feel disappointed (or perhaps stronger) that what looked dated on XP, just looks hopelessly so today. That RM’s website security & installation ‘quirks’ remain frozen in the same era just seems incomprehensible to me. I genuinely have no wish to disparage or belittle software that brings people pleasure - I enjoy occasionally playing MS-DOS games, when I want to indulge in nostalgia - but I wouldn’t choose to pay modern licensing prices for that, GOG offers those for less than the price of a coffee!

Could 2 adapted Chaldron chassis (with some kind of pivot between) have been used? (akin to the later log wagons & Duke of Wellington coach on L&MR) If your undercut/overhang body is prototypical, that could possibly allow a small degree of pivoting? (alternatively 4 independently pivoting axles would allow curves to be negotiated with even smaller degree of pivot per axle) That suggestion is probably anachronistic for the period - but might assist with oo compromises & R2/1 curves?

Colin, your opinion of me is unimportant - but please don’t assume that Hornby is foolish enough to employ me - I am merely a customer! I mentioned style sheets purely as an example (I possess no inside knowledge of the software Invision uses) to assist you with understanding that changes aren’t always as radical as they appear. I’m glad if this has helped you to accept the situation.

Err Colin, that statement actually does sound like you not understanding modern web tools (or even the simplicity of working with style sheets). Yes a couple of decades ago, significantly changing the front end involved dramatic redesigns - now significant front end changes can be implemented (& reverted) with a few clicks! This is not intended to imply that any numpty with a hammer can be a web developer, but merely that dramatic looking front-end changes, no longer indicate/necessitate dramatic back-end changes.

I believe it references a time when craftsmen made items of quality, to last for an extended period of use… obviously has no relevance to the modern world (& especially technology) with planned obsolescence! 😉🤦‍♂️

Colin, choose Menu (or 3 horizontal lines button) -> Hornby -> Forums You then get straight to the screen you are describing navigating back to. Yes it will be ideal when all the navigation/links work consistently through all screens - but whilst work is carried out alternative ways can be found.

Membership is optional everyone can choose to use it or not - nobody is forcing anyone! For those of us that would prefer to figure a way around the work - rather than have to experience downtime 😱 - cheers for keeping the lights on!

The Mods have (in a couple of Hornby threads) stated that work is being carried out behind the scenes. Us users are requested to bear with the changes until they are complete - as the alternative would be to take the fora offline for maintenance.

In my opinion the Railmaster developer (HRMS) appears to use the exact opposite strategy to the Hornby HM developers - therefore doesn’t seem at all surprising that some are questioning its future. HRMS apparent strategy: • Include in your software tantalising non-functional links to features that aren’t available yet. • Guarantee release dates for updates that are continually missed. • Inform existing customers who discover bugs/issues that these will be addressed ‘in or after the next update’. Hornby HM apparent strategy: • Include only the currently available features - don’t add items to interface until they are usable. • Don’t provide release dates until you are certain of being able to meet them. • Work on new features in the order that is planned - but if a bug or fault is discovered - get an interim fix addressing it out a.s.a.p.

Just two tiny comments on new mobile view: • ‘Menu’ is displayed in white font on Scalextric forum (and is therefore clearly legible) whereas it is displayed in medium-dark blue font on both Hornby & Airfix fora (and is therefore not very legible) white font on all would be a better choice! • It is now much harder to see which posts have unread content - since all thread titles are bold (rather than just unread ones) you now have to look for whether spot/star is red or pink. p.s. on mobile view if you select any forum from menu (to get away from error screen) - you can use the navigation tree options as normal.

Hornby have given absolutely no indication they have any thoughts to offer the atomiser, reservoir, etc. internals as separately purchasable parts. Your best bets (if you don’t want to have a go yourself) are probably to either pay someone to re-livery the body, or wait and see what liveries might be produced in future - since it is highly doubtful that Hornby would invest in significant tooling & development expense for a single production run! You could always email marketing with your suggestion/request & see if they can be persuaded.

Hopefully a large chunk of that almost 10 quid is a licensing fee to the RNLI (if so, worth every penny!) otherwise…

Yes Cameron - if you either use insulated fishplates/rail joiners or isolating track sections - that will cut power before buffer stop. Then if you place a diode (in the correct orientation) in the wiring to the isolated section, you can allow power out (i.e. loco can reverse or leave the section) whilst power into the section is still cut.
