  1. Future thing Malcolm 👍
  2. Why on earth would Key Model World/Key Publishing go to the trouble & expense of printing something that is freely available on a manufacturer’s website? Yes Hornby could have uploaded the pdf on release day and simply told those interested in a physical copy to take a hike. Instead they’ve opted for an arrangement with a publisher to make a printed version viable with an exclusive deal. Anyone who wants a free digital version only has to wait a short time! (Unfortunately that apparently is an unpleasant feat for those who desire immediate gratification.)
  3. Thank you for explanation @Rallymatt - not sure I entirely agree, but extremely helpful to be given another perspective. 👍
  4. How is doing an ‘exclusive marketing deal’ with a major model railway publication either lazy or a fail?
  5. The catalogue is included with the magazine, therefore it is only intended to initially be ‘free’ to purchasers/subscribers - not gen pop! I used movies as an example of a product that is initially only available to a limited paying group (cinema patrons) & only released to gen pop later (once cinema ticket revenue has been maximised.)
  6. Agreed great video! 👍 Extremely positive to see both of them being willing to be honest about difficulties & also explaining how they are making improvements. Really builds confidence that they care about customers (& company reputation.) It also completely destroys any criticism about Hornby potentially lacking commitment to the scale - they certainly wouldn’t waste money on improving models, if they were really only interested in extracting the maximum profit for the minimum investment!
  7. Hmm and maybe movies could be released to stream for free on the same day they’re released in the cinema… can’t think of any commercial reason why that could be a problem! I would imagine that a pdf version will be made available after the next issue of Hornby Magazine is released (& catalogue issue is withdrawn) - to maximise sales of the catalogue!
  8. Bee - could it work to make the chassis in 2 halves? (left & right) or make 2 side frames that attach to the chassis separately? With either of those options the material wouldn’t need to flex at all, since attachment to body/chassis would hold the axles in place, & if attachments were screws (rather than glued) then removal would also be possible, if desired.
  9. How do you get ‘boxier’ than an 08? 🤔 Dock Shunter perhaps? 🤷‍♂️
  10. Have you looked at the HM7000 decoder manual? (available from Hornby website) - it contains the various function settings as well as lots of other useful info!
  11. They are the same item - the SCA prefix is simply a Scalextric identifier.
  12. With DCC fitted version both units contain a decoder Yes! (So that you can control both lights & sounds.)
  13. The figures aren’t painted - they are 3D printed in the various different coloured plastics. Therefore the colours aren’t going to be as opaque - but individual tiny details are easier to produce!
  14. @Malcolm-801628 I’d recommend emailing hm.customercare@hornby.com - you will then be speaking to the HM|DCC & HM7000 developer. They might be able to suggest something we’ve missed, or alternatively you might be able to give them details that assist with identifying the fault.
  15. It shouldn’t be affecting Hornby financially - unless they’ve made a very bad deal. Having outsourced logistics - any wastage in the system should only be affecting the logistics provider’s profit! (Whether postage refunds affect Hornby’s profit is another matter.) Wholeheartedly agreed that it’s detrimental to customers, reputation, & customer service team though!
  16. Yes @Malcolm-801628 the app is perfectly capable of running multiple locos/decoders simultaneously. If it can only connect with 1 at a time that is a Bluetooth mesh glitch, unlinking/relinking all affected decoders has worked for others who’ve experienced this glitch.
  17. Others experiencing similar issues have reported removing & relinking regained them control. It might well be worth trying.
  18. Yes they should both be operable together - others have reported similar Bluetooth mesh glitches where the solution has been to remove & relink affected dongle and/or decoders.
  19. That coach number appears to have been included in set R1214 ‘East Coast Express’.
  20. iPadOS 17 was released in September 2023 - 2nd generation is earliest Pro supported. Tablet/Phone OS is highly relevant to HM|DCC app support - which is the subject of this thread! (Obviously it has no bearing on decoder capability - which is irrelevant to the OP’s question!) Currently the app works on all versions of iPadOS back to 13 - on supported devices. The critical factor moving forward, will be how quickly newer features increase demands upon hardware performance (RAM capacity/Processor speed etc.) I recognise this info doesn’t actually answer your question - but I don’t believe Hornby’s future app development timescale is known enough to give accurate predictions. However given that v13 is now over 5yrs old, it is unlikely that support for v16 will be dropped tomorrow!
  21. As a person who studied 20th century History (inc WWII) at GCSE**, we just about covered that tanks & planes were involved, but certainly not specific vehicle types, let alone squadron/pilot markings on an individual plane. Your interest goes way deeper/beyond the level which you attribute to general education - which is perhaps an indication of why expectation isn’t being met. I hold no opinion on how much research should be undertaken by model manufacturers - considering that I am mostly a magpie purchaser & choose to conduct research into real vehicles/events as an entirely separate activity. **more than a couple of decades ago!
  22. On the affected decoders, have you updated the sound profile to the latest version available? (the version the decoder ships with is usually a few months old & may contain bugs)
  23. My figures have arrived - they are brilliant & they are equalled (or even surpassed) by the fantastic Customer Service of the company selling them. It is extremely encouraging when a business makes a customer feel valued as much as the customer values the product. Adding this experience to the quality of their products - I very much hope to see Accurascale’s TT:120 range increase. 🤞
  24. Accurascale TT:120 Research Team figures. (imho) They are incredibly detailed for their size - even more so if viewed with a magnifier!
  25. A few possibilities to try first: You haven’t accidentally caught the ‘stop layout’ button have you? (if you had it would be showing ‘resume layout’) Can you get the sounds to work on Bluetooth? (is it just movement not working, or any/all functions/control) Have you updated the sound profile to the latest version available? (the version the decoder ships with is usually a few months old & may contain bugs)
