  1. This is just an example, I don't know if this is the correct part for your loco or not. As you can see in the picture both side are connected via some kind of rivet or compressed metal )red circle) with movement and other side connect to wheel (green circle).
  2. In your picture, you can see one side have this part of the Valve Gear so, I assuming, ( I could be wrong) other side one is absent and that's where second picture part will go. On second thought I think the part shown in the second picture is broken and should connected to valve gear, one side part of the Valve gear and other side goes on wheel bolt.
  3. Thanks "LTSR_NSE" Regards
  4. Well good news for me, it was just blanking plate which was the reason loco wasn't running. Just tested with dc controller and all seem to be working fine. Next stage to find tts decoder or try hornby new decoder. Does Hornby have released sound for this particular model?
  5. I bought a non runner Hornby R3469 BR Merchant Navy in excellent condition with box as non runner. My idea was maybe shaft from flywheel to worm gear may have came of, so I will try to fix this stunning loco. Today I received it, I could hear something is lose in tender but I thought I inspect the motor first, which was fine, shaft was in place between flywheel and worm gear as well. So I opened the tender to find out that blanking plate was loose and came off inside the tender or someone took off and either try to insert and bent the pins or forgot to put it back. Some of the pins were bent so I have straighten them, inserted the blanking plate with both arrow matching on pcb board and blanking plate. Is that's correct? I will wait until someone confirm before I test this unit. Also I will have to dig out my rolling Road and controller as well which have been stored for nearly year and half due to other commitments.
  6. I don't know if this will help but on ebay, these wheel are available with cog in the middle. On original wheel set hornby have traction tyres but these are without traction tyres, maybe you can remove the wheel on this shaft and put on your old wheel so you have a working cog in the middle. Maybe more experienced modellers can comment on this or give advice on this matter. 7. Hello Griswald I just googled now and I don't know if these are the same wheel set you need, double check before you order and this website is showing in stock. https://www.theparishs.uk/product/eurostar-complete-wheel-axle-set/ I hope that is helpful to you. Sorry my mistake, When I click on add or buy it now, it took me to Hornby website where item is out of stock.
  8. Do you happen to have model number of Dapol Manor?
  9. I am thinking of buying this model with points and 15% discount, this will cost me £62.00 plus postage. It is dead cheap but is it worth the original price of £229.99. Especially with new tender to loco connector which is having problems. Or should I use my points and 15% discount on something better quality locomotive?
  10. Code to be added to in voucher section is SAVE15 and only applicable to item in stock.
  11. Thanks for your reply ColinB. I just wanted to know if they are any good in running like bachman class 20 or even hornby class 20, both are very good slow runner and I want to add Helijan Class 28 to my collection, if they are as good or better than class 20. I really respect your view so anything you say or show would be good enough for me.
  12. Has anyone, bought Helijan Class 28 and if they can share their opinion or any reviews.
  13. Hello Everyone Just wanted to wish, all a very happy year and I hope everyone can spend more time on playing with their trains or Layouts or do what ever they enjoy in this hobby. I haven't had much chance to enjoy my hobby due to health issue. But I am hoping everyone whenever, they can, enjoy this hobby. HAPPY NEW YEAR Deem
  14. Placed the order, looking forward to get it and test it. Thanks for the tip. Haven't played with trains for quite some time, I have few things to test, HM7000, Hornby Elite (bought second hand from ebay) Class 20 recently received from Hornby which was on preorder in January 23. Quite excited.
  15. Hello Colin, Just to clarify, I am a big fan of A1/ A2/ A3/ A4 Loco's. Based on your description I just checked the TMC sale section, only A1 they have for sale is, Knight of thistle. It is A1 model and at nearly 50% off, it is a bargain, although this with different name plate, am I to assume same Loco (R3989) as yours Doncastor? Regards
  16. As for erratic running, "DS' advice is spot on, only thing I would add is, clean the wheel as well, if the loco is not been used or heavily used in the past. I use Isopropyl Alcohol to clean the track, but my track is Nickel Silver, maybe some more experienced members can advice different method to clean the Steel Track. Also you stated "engines are also running at high speed even with a slight turn of the controller" could you explain what controller you have?
  17. I hope you have sorted the problem, but by any chance, not yet, there are good video's on youtube showing how to service ringfield motor which is fitted in FS Tender, one of the video I just found now for you.
  18. If memory serves me correctly, tender driven loco, also have traction tyres on wheels, if the traction tryes are worn or flat or missing, wheel may spin but no traction, hence the loco will not move.
  19. Thanks Fishmanoz, greatly appreciated. Reagrds
  20. Hello Everyone I hope everyone is well and enjoying the Hobby. I am considering to install TXS in Hornby Class 08 with 8 pin socket. Has anyone tried or have any success and if they can share pictures. Would be grateful for help. Regards
  21. You are correct, but with my little knowledge and short period of being Railway Modeller, I have only come across only Loco, I think it's Flying Soctsman which have tender screw under the rear coupler. Most of the all others Loco's DMU, EMU or Steam, I have no issue using multi bits set I bought from china.
  22. Thanks for your comments Fishmanoz, as I stated previously as well, that I did reset Hornby Elite. But I found this a bit bizarre, that instead of sticking to same or similar set up on their controller by all manufacturer (some chooses opposite) so it is less confusing for users.
  23. Hello I have this set which I order on Aliexpress, paid via paypal so I am protected in case I don't get the item, but I received in 2 weeks, very happy with quality of product, as I repair as hobby, Laptops and phones as well some time, this has almost all types of bits for my job, only issue I have with this set is, when trying to reach screw in tender which is fitted under rear coupling, that is very deep and this set bits don't reach down to undo screw, for that and that's only I use my o number screwdriver, for anything else I use this with good magnet to hold the screws in place. Old brass screw will not held by magnet so one will have to use very tiny black tack. At the moment sale is on and with 11 days delivery total price included tax is £11.26 The link: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005058459963.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.main.7.5bad1d4beLPgSA&algo_pvid=bd4c8d70-836a-45b0-818b-90d8be94d4a7&algo_exp_id=bd4c8d70-836a-45b0-818b-90d8be94d4a7-3&pdp_ext_f=%7B%22sku_id%22%3A%2212000031482598565%22%7D&pdp_npi=3%40dis%21GBP%218.62%213.97%21%21%21%21%21%40211be59e16792531805388368d06c2%2112000031482598565%21sea%21UK%21716716223&curPageLogUid=Wu77sDDQqjH5
  24. I think ntpntpntp solved it for me, as bachmann definitely show steam loco facing right to left ( with boiler on the right and driver cab on left when looking at loco symbol) on the controller which mean they must have setting in the controller which is opposite to hornby.
