Rogerbass
Here's one for Airfix model planners, according to honestjohnclassics in March 2014 there were still 19,440 assorted Morris 1000's registered on the road in the UK,, sounds like a ready market to me for the making of a 1.32 scale model
MG Writer
I did suggest this in an earlier thread. Look at Heller who are getting a lot of mileage (kilometre age?) out of a Renault 4 kit to 1:24 scale! I think a Morris Minor in various versions would be a great idea. DavidJC
I'm not a car modeller although I have made a couple over the years and frankly I think Minors of any version are simply horrific cars, however, despite my antipathy for the wretched things I can see the rationale for this model, especially in 1/24. MG Writer
MG Writer, did or do those Morris Van's and Morris Traveller belong to you? GNR-Gordon-4Sorry, no. But aren't they great? A 'woodie' Traveller would be especially nice. Painting would be made easier if they made the 'wood' as separate bits.
peebeep
From my childhood I can remember at least one saloon as a family car, plus the Old Man went through a couple of travellers in conjunction with his business (painting and decorating). I pretty much learned to drive in an old ex-GPO van that belonged to a mate. He insured it for me and insisted I drive whenever we went out. Happy days. I'd be up for a kit, but I'm not entirely convinced the numbers would work to make it viable. It's a bit curious that Airfix never did one when the car kit series was originally being built up, I'm sure it must have figured in future project discussions. NWR-Gordon-4
@MG Writer Yes, they are great. You don't see many of these about on the UK roads anymore. GNR-Gordon-
NWR-Gordon-4
I am on unsure of what use this is to anybody, but using the GOV.UK website, I have found this out: Morris Minor Traveller - white - VSJ 492:Date Registered: 03/02/1956Last MOT: 23/05/2018 (Pass) Morris 6 CWT Van - Post Office livery - GRU 522D:Date Registered: 05/05/1966Last MOT: 20/10/2017 (Pass) Morris 8 CWT Van - Castrol livery - XBC 589J:Date Registered: 11/12/1970Last MOT: 13/04/2012 (Pass) I am unable to read the registration plate of the WeALFI liveried van, so I am unable to provide any details of this one. Jonno65
Check this out... £80 is honestly not bad for a detailed 1:24 Morris Minor.... http://www.themotormuseuminminiature.co.uk/1963-morris-minor-1000.phpWell - I have purchased one of these and it duly arrived well packaged from Ian at the Motoring Museum. £80 plus p+p is an excellent price for a 1:24 Kit. I was blown away when I opened the package yesterday. Resin Parts and Body Shell neatly stowed in vac form packs. Extensive instructions and even a DVD / CD of build instructions plus other supplementary material. If you get a chance - speak to Ian - and he is more than willing to assist. Ian has provided in a email at least 2 - 3 pages of advice on modelling cars, with links to the help pages on his an his fathers website. Just by corresponding with Ian - it has given me some direction and confidence to build this kit (albeit sometime in 2019). The detail on this kit, wheels, dash etc are amazing - and you should be able to build subtle variants too. I am very tempted to purchase other kits should they make any. When you consider that Airfix Bond Bugs, Marina, Maxi et al are going for >£100 at the moment and they just 1:32 Scale. My £80 on a 1:24 represents value in a sparse U.K Classic car market. DavidJC
I don't know that anyone said that £80 is cheap? captain triggers feels that it's an 'excellent' price; to him he consdiers it value. I might not of course but then I don't really have any interst in car models and even less in what I consder the awful Morris Minor (sorry but I do!). On the other hand, whilst I would still raise an eyebrow at £80 at a faultless 1/48 Buccaneer, I would very much consider buying one. Horses for courses really. peebeep
John said it was an excellent price for a 1/24 resin car kit, he didn't refer to it as cheap. If you've ever looked at buying a resin car kit in 1/24 you'd know that a lot of them cost rather more than the £80 asking price for the Morris. Kenneth ONeill
OTOH the discussed Morris 1000 is a pure kerbside model; the other resin and multi-media kits I've bought are all full detail.

NWR-Gordon-4
I totally agree that £80.00 is a lot of money. However, considering the level of detail the has, it is worth it. You just have to be a collector of plastic kits to buy such one as this, at such price; Not to mention about being interested in cars! 😛 😆 😉 😀 GNR-Gordon-
Mr Unhinged
Hello , I was just searching for details of Minor Resin Kits and this forum popped up . I have had a look around and the whole 1/32 v 1/24 debate is in full swing . I think Airfix is missing a trick our Transatlantic friends are well aware of . Classic Saloon's in 1/24th scale have a big following and I bought the Resin shell in question as I intend to Customise it . It is just a slightly wobbly shell and I fully intend on raiding my parts box for a big old V8 , wheels , running gear interior etc .As said 1/24 is the chosen scale for the rest of the world , we can cross parts over , modify , do as we choose . A Morris Minor kit would be the ideal candidate for such things , as would a Cortina , Pop , Escort , Zephyr/Zodiac or any number of classics Airfix has already released in 1/32 If carefully chosen it would be a world-beater , The classic folks would be happy with the chance to build a standard icon , and the modifiers will go " cool, something different that isn't going to require 30 hours to get straight before I even think about raiding the parts bin. " They don't even need to worry about supplying the parts to modify as we tend to buy another kit for transplantation purposes anyway. I loved building the 1/32 rereleases a while back but I would have loved them so much more if they were in 1/24.
Kenneth ONeill
" It is just a shell and I fully intend on raiding my parts box for a big old V8 ,"And why not? Back in the day one of my mates put a "Rover 3_500 engine" (ex Buick) in a real Morris Minor, with minimal other visible modifications.
Mr Unhinged
Following on , I am genuinely surprised Tamiya has not done a Minor yet with the Japanese love of all things English . Do you know they made body kits for Micra's so they looked like Austin 1100s . Yes mental enough to do that . And dont forget the MM ended up all over the globe post WW2
