  1. If it is PVA mixed with water put it in a sealed jar and skake it occasionally, mine lasted about 3 months. I'd used it by then but it might have lasted much longer. Don't make the mixture too strong.
  2. Think you will find it picks up power from the tender on the side without traction tyres and from the opposite side on the loco. The loco power is directly from the wheels/axles/chassis. The wheels on the other side are insulated from the axle.
  3. The points at the bottom of the mat are right hand. As you enter them from one end you can only go straight on but if you enter from the other end you can go straight on or turn right. So to do the same at the top of the mat in the other direction you will need two left hand points. This is exactly the same as Norman said. You are either turning right or left. Take a look at this. https://www.hornby.com/uk-en/forum/nomenclature-of-turnouts/?p=1
  4. I think the majority know it is new tooling. I've only seen one post where somebody asked if the new coaches will fit the old one. 😀
  5. It was only the train. No box or anything else.
  6. No Jabob. I got it from a jumble sale for about 50 pence and sold it a year later for £30. I only bought it to see what it was like. The first time I tried it it sped off round the track but I hadn't noticed that the pantograph was extended. As it passed through the station it threw my footbridge about 10 feet across the loft.
  7. If nothing is done soon we will find members on here migrating to another forum where you can duscuss any make, post pictures and contact other members. It also seems to be devoid of whingers and drivel merchants. 😆
  8. Wasn't answering you Jj I was answering RDS. 😀
  9. Well yes it is. Two locos running together. Wellwhynot asked if two locos could run on the same track at the same time. I said I often double head locos, which is running two on the same track at the same time. They just happen to be joined together.
  10. Same thing. Two locos on the same track going in the same direction. Whether they are connected together doesn't make that much difference unless they have very different running characteristics such as one loco is faster than the other. Just pointing out two locos will run on the same track. Probably not advisable with a cheap controller.
  11. If the programming track is DCC the loco should not be run on it with the blanking plate installed instead of a decoder. In fact if it runs on the DCC programming track surely it must be fitted with a decoder already .
  12. I double head two locos fairly often and have never had a problem. I run them at a moderate speed, not fast.
  13. Looking at the service sheet it looks as if the smoke unit is plugged in in parallel with the glow box and you should be able to unplug it. If it doesn't unplug I suggest you cut the wires to the smoke box but not too near the glow box or smoke unit in case you need to rejoin the wires. Insulate the ends of the live wires once cut.
  14. Plenty to see there. Only been once but must try and go again this year. If I do I'll wave to you (with a telephoto lens).
  15. Have you been there Chris. Well worth a visit.
  16. The rope making shop isn't that building it is to the right off shot. You can see it in the picture below parallel to the water below the cross icon to the C in Council. /media/tinymce_upload/c76b9226bbb5ebbbc8936a07a882e8f5.PNG
  17. Trouble is that people who have a deep knowledge about a subject sometimes don't seem to understand that others might have no clue at all, absolutely nothing. Keep asking if you don't understand. You are not alone. I have a fairly good knowledge of most things electric but some of the stuff Chris discusses leaves me amazed. Very clever man.
  18. When you say brochure are you referring to the catalogue?
  19. Same offer as last year. Perhaps you were too quick off the mark. 😉 Bill Hornby don't read this forum apart from an occasional look at the wishlist section so you would be better contacting Hornby direct.
  20. Almost all the retailers sell Hornby products cheaper than Hornby so I very much doubt it was anything to do with them.
  21. Jeremiah I wondered when you'd be along to mention the Class 91. I know it has been on your list for ages. 😆
