  1. I only use Peco track and have no problem on points.Their ordinary points have far less plastic than the Hornby version.
  2. Here you are Jj. I believe these are highly detailed Hornby coaches. /media/tinymce_upload/7c5ba26779a71616b5c1fa48c87fe8e3.jpg
  3. Not sure if this is the right stuff but does this help? /media/tinymce_upload/744196c06468b12791a6790d841a08a2.jpg
  4. One of the answers bore no resemblance to the question at all. Kaustubh your question was fine. Ask as many as you wish. 😆
  5. Does seem to have got rather complicated. Answer to question 1 Hornby will advise the required decoder for DCC running. Answer to question 2 is yes a DCC ready loco will run on DC.
  6. For me 100 hours is years of running. Luckily the majority of motors are very cheap.
  7. I wouldn't mind betting the couplings are in an accessory bag in the packaging. I hope you ordered the correct couplings with the NEM fitting. The socket it plugs in to may already be attached to the loco. /media/tinymce_upload/e9a45c2fc7428f723f51f6399c661478.jpg
  8. Joe you said "This suggests that ringfield motors run on 2-3v even though the DC controller is sending 12v down the track?" The DC controller starts by sending zero volts to the track then as you turn the knob the voltage increases. When it gets to 1 or 2 volts the motor starts turning. When it gets to 12 it will be going pretty fast. My controller has a maximum of 13.8 volts but only when the knob is turned to maximum, which it never is with a loco on the track.
  9. It is good practice to check all screws for tightness periodically. Not sure many people do, then they come on here to say connecting rods etc. have fallen off. Only takes a minute.
  10. NervousEnergy's post was a year and a half ago and he hasn't posted anything since so I reckon you are too late with your kind offer.
  11. When Joe says old Hornby it depends how old. Some on here would consider a loco from the 90's to be old so let's wait until he gives us more details before giving lots if advice.
  12. Here's three to be getting on with. They might have sold out but don't say so. https://www.collettsmodelshop.co.uk/product/hornby-r3819-lms-6231-duchess-of-atholl-centenary-year-limited-edition-1948-free-postage/ http://www.burevalleymodels.com/p/17187/R3819---6231-Duchess-of-Atholl-Centenary-Year-Ltd-Edition-1948 https://www.jadlamracingmodels.com/hornby-r3819-lms-6231-duchess-of-atholl-centenary-year-limited-edition-1948/
  13. I had a 50 for about 5 years until I read the doors open. Not absolutely sure what the point is unless you like having cameos. Trouble is they spring shut so don't stay open.
  14. What is the loco and what is the controller?
  15. I think the diecast body is why it is limited LC.
  16. Have you googled it. I found several taking pre-orders that don't say all pre-orders sold.
  17. Atom I think that 'apart-/half-in' and run it!! is probably the meaning of life.
  18. I guess the occasional rogue motor must slip through but I'm pretty sure a lot of locos are run at breakneck speeds.
  19. Sorry have I mentioned it before. It didn't use to work, it suddenly happened, I thought it was something to do with the forum. Nothing had changed on the iPad. I keep a careful watch on updates.
