  1. When you measure the diameter it is of the part that rests on the track not the flange.
  2. Many years ago I used the track with damp ballast and had lots of intermittent shorts until I saw the error of my ways. Chris I was wondering how the power wires were connected. If power connectors are used they may have shorted.
  3. What ballast did you use Is it perfectly dry, how are the power wires connected to the track?
  4. I use the track pin method and everything crosses my points, even the 0-4-0 Peckett.
  5. Going by the price it is pretty obvious you get what is pictured on the box. Some bits of platform and a signal aren't going to cost 40 quid.
  6. That is a big price difference. The IRDOT lit up when the siding was occupied as opposed to extinguishing.
  7. I had that very thing on my loft layout 20 years ago, still available. IRDOT. https://heathcote-electronics.co.uk/irdot1.html
  8. Thanks for that. Hornby have one on here for £2.99.
  9. The laser cut products are very good. You're going at a fair old pace Rob.
  10. All you need is a long straight edge for straight flexi. Are you using proper flexi or the semi stuff?
  11. Could you not just add pickups to the bogie? DCC concepts https://www.dccconcepts.com/product/pickup-wiper-12-pack/ and DCC supplies https://www.dccsupplies.com/search/results/?search=Pickups do lots that can easily be adapted.
  12. I agree LC it was magical. Like this./media/tinymce_upload/b46c6d04cdd9c9ae686c3e26858c0ae8.jpg
  13. Don't think so Jj, not any good to repair the clear window. Clear acetate sheet can be bought from hobby shops or on line. It can also be found on different types of packaging.
  14. I alway give books away unless I happen to be visiting a place such as Blackwells who buy second hand. Can't be bothered to sell them on eBay.
  15. That's a charity shop price Jacob. If it was worth more it wouldnt have been given to the shop. The owner was happy to give it away. I can guarantee that the Hornby book we have been discussing will appear for a pound or less in the next couple of years.
  16. The Xurons are fantastic but make sure you use them the correct way round, and don't be tempted to cut wire, no matter how thick, it will ruin them. Ihave a damaged set to prove it.
  17. I realised that. What I meant was once you had joined the track it would be obvious to slide the sleepers back under. You asked if anybody on here had used flexi which is why I mentioned the 90%. Take a look at this if you have bever used it before. https://www.hornby.com/uk-en/forum/laying-flexible-track---tips-for-the-unwary/?p=1/
  18. I didn't like the semi flexi, found it a bit brittle and the rails would come out of the chair . Might just have been me.
  19. I would imagine 90% of us have used flexi. Once it is joined you remove the chairs from the previously removed sleepers and slide them back under the rails, obvious really.
  20. Our local charity shop has a copy of last years Hornby catalogue in mint condition. Price ........................25pence.
  21. On mine they were Nylon. I would suggest you just try any nut using trial and error.
  22. Interestingly the number 20738 quoted is a part number for plate under a Wrenn A4. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WRENN-model-railway-pick-up-plate-cover-20738-for-CITY-A4-and-2-6-4-Tank-locos/401722080456
  23. I have grandchildren Jacob. I do like Harry Potter but wouldn't buy an OO loco.
  24. Well I think I may end up with one. Got plenty of other toys and this one looks fun.
