  1. When it comes to the crunch track cleaning is easy. A bottle of IPA and some lint free clothe. After all it's just two thin strips of metal you need to keep shiny. Don't forget the wheels especially the backs of them. Done. 😆
  2. That was my first train set. The coaches may have taken on the shape of a banana. 😮
  3. I see you're going for multi posts now Jacob. Must be catching 😆
  4. So what's your average age RLC? 😆
  5. I think my average age is about 11.
  6. My latest is some Ratio fence, 3 yard cranes (not 3 yards long but 3 cranes for a goods yard), 2 fork lift trucks and some sacks, barrels and pallets.
  7. Excel? What ever happened to arithmetic?
  8. I guess 34 could be your average age WW.
  9. I only know one youngster with a passion for model railways, but then again as I'm not in a club how would I know who likes what. The lad three doors away might have a huge layout.
  10. Maybe they know each other. Not sure if he always drives SOTM, he's often off somewhere at the weekend. I know he is/was involved somewhere in East Europe where a group would sort of take over a line and run steam locos for a week or two.
  11. I know the driver of the 94XX, he is/was a consultant at John Radcliffe Hosp named Lance. Nice chap.
  12. Thanks LC. The S stock runs from Aldgate and terminates at Amersham. Chiltern Railways run the Marylebone to Aylesbury Parkway service. Very handy it is to. I always go to the next station from Amersham, Chalfont and Latimer, as this has an extra underground train from Chesham. Oyster card available on all trains.
  13. I noticed that. As I scrolled through I notice the first reply was from Graskie who sadly passed away a year ago.
  14. I would say that about 80% of derailments are due to poorly laid track.
  15. The secret of using Hornby switches with a CDU is to operate the switch quickly. I used them for years until I saw the light and replaced them with something neater.
  16. A CDU capacitor discharge unit should solve your problem. Well worth using with points even if you have only one motor. Gives the motor a burst of power and prevents motors burning out. Peco make a very neat easy to wire version although it is not ideal if you have lots of points or wish to change two at the same time. Have a Google and see what there is.
  17. I'm not so keen on the Dutch barges, not so easy to handle, can't hop on and off them so easily. They make some weird lengths now. Made to measure I guess.
  18. Not so sure it's a standard size fazy. The one I helped fit out was 55ft. There's a lot of those about. 😀
  19. Yes I came to that conclusion in the end 😆
