If one looks in the 'What's Your Latest Acquisition?' thread, there are many images of non-Airfix kits, boxed and completed. I am unsure why non-Airfix images can not be posted on this forum, when I have seen many in other parts of this forum.

Great layout and scene here, Ratch. Thank you for posting them. 😉 😀
As this topic is five years old in September 2020, I was just wondering if you should have posted this in a brand new thread?

Oh sorry, perhaps I was wrong then. Why is that then?
Over at the Hornby Forum, they allow images of none Hornby model railways to be posted and as I assume the Airfix Forum is run by the same admin team, why do they allow images of none own home branded products on one forum to another?

If you needed to change the chassis from another 0-6-0 locomotive for Thomas, you could change the wheels over, so your completed running Thomas has his iconic blue wheels.

The Hornby Disney Pixar Toy Story 3 locomotive and rolling stock, do not fetch a lot of money, probably due to how simple they are. When I purchased it myself, I will be honest, I was disappointed by it's quality. I was hoping it would be better.
Hornby Thomas' are easy to find, as so many of them and variants have been produced, since the 1980's. All you giot to do, is come across a good runner with no damage. I have found a lot of damaged and none runners on eBay and at exhibitions, locomotives I wouldn't look twice at.

I believe pictures of none Airfix branded kits, can be posted on this forum, Rocket Ron. Please read this bullet point copy and paste in this post, in the pink quotation box, of the Airfix Forum Rules:
Discussion of other plastic model kit manufacturers is allowed, however, active promotion or advertising of our competitors is not permitted.

Thank you for the information, Puffed Out. 😀
In the past on eBay, I have seen some listings for cabs, but I am unsure without checking, if there are any there for sale, at this present day.
As I mentioned last night (Saturday 21/03/2020), in my post that I posted at 22:46:43, I mentioned somewhere that the locomotive and the wagons are plasticky. The locomotive's body appears to be made up of seperately fitted plastic pieces, that all appear to be loose, or they are on mine (I bought my train set brand new and unused, in around 2011 and that's how it was out of the box). I do not think it would take much force to break those pieces off.

Using this forum as an exhibition is a good idea. There won’t be any physical exhibitions for months, if not a year. The only thing you can’t do on an online forum exhibition, is that you can’t take your own pictures of the display and you can’t get closer up to admire the model / models, or the display itself. That’s only a small nitpick though, as a forum exhibition is better than nothing.

@Puffed Out
These are all from the 2010 released, Hornby R1149 Disney Pixar Toy Story 3 Electric Train Set.
The Train Set included:
- Western-style Locomotive
- Western Bank Wagon
- Coach with Woody and Buzz Lightyear figures on the roof
- W.W.R. 095 Caboose / Brake Van
- Railer tool
- Track
- Controller
- Disney Pixar Toy Story 3 TrakMat
The locomotive and rolling stock are very plasticky and do not contain the usual OO gauge couplings.
Where did find all of this, out of interest? Was it a purchase you forgot, or knew nothing about?
@Sarahagain
Correct. In the Disney Pixar Toy Story 3 film, the locomotive had a tender, but for some reason that I do not know, Hornby did not produce the tender. I imagine to save on costs.
I am not sure if in the film the train was supposed to be a model railway, but most likely a battery powered toy train, as the Disney Pixar Toy Story films are focused on toys, that are alive.
Sarahagain's post had not been posted, when I was typing this post.

I'm very sorry about that Ratch. You are very welcome there. I did not see your original post, as I do not genrally check the Hornby Hobbies' branded forums, during the daytime often. I had a busy day today, anyway.
So your 'Community Moderator' wording displayed over at the Hornby Forum? Very odd. I believe that it should be displayed to the website forum, that you are a Community Moderator on. I believe that needs to be corrected and then a Community Moderator can post on one of the forums, without the Community Moderaor tag. This should be suggested to admin to alter this problem.
Anyway, the Community Moderators on the Hornby Forum, suggested you create a new Hornby Hobbies account to post there. You are welcome Ratch. They are just worried that the Community Moderator tag will confuse members. Please try again with a new account, in your own time. 😀

I would not be surprised if there are no exhibitions of any sort, until next year. I will be surprised if events like these, will be able to take place again, before the end of 2020.

Assessor37, welcome to the Hornby Forum. 😀
Not everything here is about digital model railways. Anything about moderl railways is discussed here. The sub-forum that you will want to post in, is the General Discussion sub-forum. This is the very first sub-forum, that you will find on the 'Forums' page.

You are welcome. 😀
I recommend you visit the Hornby Forum. You do not need to know anything about model railways, to post anything. We have lots of 'newbie' posters who don't seem to quite know what they talking about, or that's how their post sounds. Equally it could be a badly written post, so you do not know which is correct or not.
Model railways have advanced since the 1980's, but I still recommend you to come along and post some of these images. You may feel not welcome due to lack of knowledge, but you will learn. There's some great knowledge their about real life railways and model railways, right down to each individual product. Please consider this and come along in your own time.

Yes, that is a bargain. Still worth stocking up. I will not be surprised if the post servicers and couriers stop at somepoint, so any online purchases could be delayed for months.

I assume you purchased those from your local model shop, Ratch? Are you stocking up, in case all of the shops close due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19)?

I did not relise Ratch, how into model railways you are. Perhaps you should log onto the Hornby Forum sometime and post some of these images there. I am sure many of us would enjoy viewing these. 😀
Keep up the good work! 😉 😀

It's plesant to read that you have found enjoyment in buying used models and got locomotives running, that the seller probably thought has had it. Enjoy them all, Puffed Out! 😉 😀

That sounds the exact downside with selling yourself, Brain (walkingthedog), but it's easier to sell to model shops, but will get less for selling this way.

Apprantely, selling to Haatton's Model Railways is very easy, but I have never done it myself. In all honesty, you will get more money selling yourself, on eBay or similar. Yes, this does involve a bit more effort though.

Great locomotive, atom3624. Enjoy it! 😉 😀
That's odd. atom3624's post has been approved at 19:23! I thought admin were not worikng at this time, unless the Moderators have the power to approve images now?
