What a stupid amount of money, considering they are faulty, or some of them are. I wouldn't want to have been the winner of the auction, having that silly bill to pay and then the thaught in my mind that the product could be faulty, as some of them have been. I would be very unhappy if I spent over £300.00 on a train pack and when it arrives I found it failty.

I suggest you contact Hornby Hobbies. They are the only people who will be able to tell you when the Airfix Club will be back, to join / renew memberships. If not, then I can only suggest you keep checking the Airfix website regularly, until the Airfix Club comes back.

Just over a month ago, we have had the 2020 announcements. There's still some older Airfix QUICK BUILD kits that I want, but I still haven't purchased yet; Plus there are this year's kits that I will be getting as well, when they are released. I have enough to buy, excluding the products from the Hornby model railways brand! I have enough on my wanted list, so the last thing I want to do, is produce a new wishlist for 2021! 😆

A poster included with every kit, would certainly raise the RRP up, without a doubt. Keeping the price as low as possible is the best thing to do, so adding a poster just adds to the cost.
Not everyone will want a poster, so for those who buy the kits with the poster, meaning they have wasted additonal money buying something, that they don't want or need.
Perhpas the best thing is that if people want posters of the box artwork, then cut the front of the box out and stick it on the wall; That's if you don't mind destroying the box.
If Hornby Hobbies were to produce posters under the Airfix brand, it would probably be best to sell them seperately.

This is what Hugo looks like, from the Thomas & Friends CGI animated TV series, so anybody can compare these images to AndyThomas' custom model, if they like.

That's a very valid point! Why buy a model with a motor, if the motor will never get used. Buy a static model or a kit for display. They are cheap than models containing a motor.

I probably wouldn't run it at all or very often if I had one, either. They look very delicate and too delicate for my liking.

That's probably because the retail price is hig Brian (walkingthedog) and the eBay and / or after market prices are even more, at present.

@Ratch
I like the look of the 1:32 Triumph Herald kit. Please post images of that when you have completed it. Thank you. 😀

I don't think offering tools as exclusive club products is the trick. What needs to be added, is even more exlusive models, that members-only can purchase. Exclusive tools would not entice me to join, unless it was a club dedicated about tools, of which I would never join! 😆 😉 😀

I assume people are bidding this much for the Hornby Centenary Year Tri-ang Stephenson's Rocket, becuase everywhere or most places have sold out already through pre-orders?
For anybody amazed at these prices, I think you will find that all of the Hornby Centenary Year Limited Edition models will sell for crazy prices on eBay, once Hornby Hobbies and the retailers have sold all of their stock.

@LC&DR
I agree, this should be moved to the Thomas the Tank Engine sub-forum.
Hugo was not part of The Railway Series, so you are correct there. Hugo is a Rail Zeppelin and first appeared in the CGI animation TV series of Thomas & Friends, during Series 20 back in 2016.

Fcc 365, welcome to the Hornby Forum. 😀
The reason why the Hornby R1230M GWR High Speed Train Set's RRP is £119.99, is because this uses an older tooling. I believe it's the ex-Lima Models tooling.
As for the Hornby Class 43 HST Power Cars Train Packs, the reason their RRP is £289.99, is becuase they use a modern more up-to-date tooling with a lot more detail. They are also a lot more delicate.
I see what you mean though, as the Hornby R1230M GWR High Speed Train Set is better value for money, as it does contain more. I believe the Hornby Class 43 HST Power Cars Train Packs are overpriced, but they are quality of quantity.

Looks OK, but I am not keen on custom models that much. A very cheap price though.

I don’t understand why there’s two different books. What’s the difference between them, apart from the number of pages? The Centenary Edition appears to be even worse value for money compared to the other book, which is the standard edition?

Sarah, what I mean by wanting pictures of the book, is that I want to actually see a copy of the book, to see if I can work out if it’s worth the RRP of £24.99. Random pictures of the front cover is not what I wanted. Thank you for the images anyway. 😀
Not seen that book before. Is it the same book, with Centenary Edition cover, if so I imagine it will be even more expensive! 🤔 😆 😉 😀

Hi John (Buz). 😀
Thats good then. The Hornby red diesel locomotive you mentioned, is Hornby RailRoad R3283 0-4-0 DH Bagnall Diesel Shunter. I worked this out, as you posted an image of your layout and this locomotive, was in your image of your layout image, that you posted in this thread on page 2, this past Monday (17/02/2020).

@samfieldhouse
I really do like the wa your layout fiolds up to that sloping wall. As RDS said, it's a good use of space and they are correct.
Out of interetst, is there anyway you can dismatle the tunnelsquickly and easily, without damaging them, to get to a derailment inside of a tunnel, if that ever happens?
You also appear to be a fan of the Citroën 2CV, judging by the pictures and posters on the bottom of your layout board! 😉 😀

Has the book been released already? That was quick! I thought it was due for release, at the end of the month.
Is anybody able to post images of the cover and sides of the book only? Not any of the pages though, as that's probably copyright and would spoil the read for anone os planning to bu a copy of the book, themselves.

I see. Which locomotive do you have pull the two Henrietta’s? A steam tram?
Where have you bought your Bachmann Trains Thomas & Friends models from then? I have owned my Henrietta since around 2011, but I can’t remember where I purchased her from or how much I paid.
I would like to see Bachmann Trains modify their Henrietta model, to have a face at one end, like she does in the more recent episodes of the CGI TV series.
Over the years, I have bought them from The Diesel Works (Before the website was sold, but they no longer the sell the Thomas models) and from Tootally Thomas. I have bought one or two from Sawyer Models as well. I hope by the end of the year, that all the HO and Narrow Gauge models will be officially sold in the UK.
The dark green two-wheeled coaches you are talking about, are Emily’s Coaches. I have just have a train of two, so one 76042 Emily’s Coach and one 76043 Emily’s Brake Coach.
I don’t think Hornby Emily is strong enough to pull more than two of these coaches, but in the model TV series, she only had two coaches anyway, so I want to replicate that.

Hi Buz. 😀
Are you are looking for a second Henrietta model, so you have a pair? I assume you want to repaint Henrietta?
The problem is with the Bachmann Thomas models, is that they are very expensive and the paint liveries on them are very shiny, so against other standard range models from any manufacturer, they don’t go together very well.

@ackers5861
Great layout. Thank you for posting that image. 😉 😀
@Buz
Nice layout! 😉 😀
I also spy the sheds, at the far right corner in front of the curtains, Bachmann Trains Thomas & Friends 77028 Henrietta, Toby’s coach.

That looks very nice and modern, Rob (RAF96). 😀

Oh good, I’m glad it’s properly sealed. It was a bit off topic to your original question, but I thought it was worth mentioning. However, I don’t believe it was worth starting a new thread, for me to ask you that question.
