  1. Hi ratch I'm a bit behind at looking at these, it has turned out well i may be tempted in the future to get one of these as I'm sure a few people will be after looking at this. Thanks for posting ratch im going to have to look at doing some of my 1:48 aircraft paul
  2. its looking well ratch, i don't usually do 1:48 scale even though i do have a few waiting to build, i do like this one
  3. For me i took it as the stencils are informative to the ground and air crew of things, so would be on top of other markings, i struggle to read them anyway so couldn't say what they actually say or if they are upside down at times when i put them on with them been so small. Never given much thought to it till now its just the way i have seen them on aircraft at air shows and on photographs, maybe i should pay more attention to them in the future.
  4. lidl are getting the airfix kits and quick builds back in from thursday 27th usual ones same price as last time £6.99
  5. hi ratch when you use a wash do you just give it a light brush and leave it to settle on the figure and dry. paul
  6. its a nice looking kit heather, noticed you did the bombs the correct colour for 1940. I must get around to doing my bombers at some point. paul
  7. looking good ratch, did the wings give you any more problems once they were clamped. paul
  8. I've not used the dropper bottles of acrylic but have used the small pots of acrylic you get in starter sets with tined enamel paint together on the same kit even painted over top of each other and not had a problem with them at all, I brush on humbrol clear gloss varnish after and that's been fine, the only problem ive had with the varnish is if the temperature is hot and vey humid it can dry leaving white marks, but ive got rid of most of these redoing the varnish once the temperatures and humidity has dropped back down paul
  9. thanks that puts me in the right direction. looking forward to seeing how yours turns out paul
  10. Hi ratch what are the colours you use for khaki uniforms, ive got some planned to do at some point both raf and Luftwaffe aircraft and i would like to do some ground crew at some point paul
  11. that is a lot of kits in one go ratch, you building the stash up for a rainy day paul
  12. it is a nice kit to build, looking forward to seeing it finished with all the added bits, I've only built it OOB. what are the hannants sheet numbers you use for the airframe numbers and code letters as this is something i would like to change in the future paul
  13. F35A fairford 2016 shows you just the doors open for the landing gear. as you can see these did have armed police watching over them through the day
  14. F35B cosford 2023 this was just a few fly pasts as there isn't a display pilot for it this year f35b hovering F35B with weapons bay open F35B a better picture of engine nozzle pointing down whilst hovering, weapons bay doors closing
  15. Hi ratch are these any good to you these were taken by me. F35B taken at fairford 2016 showing hatches open for hovering top and bottom, at rear bottom hatches open for the engine nozzle to point down front view of landing gear
  16. osprey men at arms series of books are a good reference point to start with. Its a good setting, P40 looks a bit war weary as they soon did operating in the desert. the monkey is a nice addition i do remember reading about a squadron having one as a mascot some time ago.
  17. the RAF had developed its own khaki drill clothing for the middle east and India this included shorts, air crew was the same colour and i think it was first used out there by the RFC. looking at pictures this was also used in Africa and Malta. It appears the Luftwaffe colours were similar in this theatre as well.
  18. this has come out well, the rigging is excellent once again
  19. another good addition to the collection ratch

looks well ratch, the hanger setting makes for good pictures must get around to doing my harriers
  21. the black swordfish looks good like it in a dull black, the shadows give the pictures a different dimension all together, gives it a more natural look.
  22. that's a nice scratch build ratch with the bus, I've got a few vehicles to build at some point but they will be straight out of the box as these will be the first I've built. What do you use when scratch building and where do you get it from ratch, maybe you could do another thread on this and go into a bit more depth. im getting some great ideas from you and randall and would like to know more on this sort of thing and where to start with it all
  23. Hi randall its a great setup with them working on the engine, since its armed think of it as needing a slight engine alteration before take off
  24. good looking set up ratch with the hanger, throw some different era planes in together and the vehicles and it would look like one of the hangers from a museum like duxford
