  1. from ebay came today, already have the re-supply set but another wont hurt especially for the price i payed
  2. from what i can remember (im almost sure it was german colours) reading some time ago cant remember what it was in im always reading bits here and there from magazines and books. early on a mistake was made in researching the colours and it was ether read wrong or written down wrong at the time and as this was looked on as right, it was published in books for some time without been checked, later on after new documents came to light more research was done from the beginning and that was how the mistake was found. sorry that's all i can remember but its something that stuck in my head( its full of useless information like that) maybe some one else could shed a bit more light on things and confirm it is german colours im thinking about.
  3. a nice build, do find these a bit fascinating though. its close to the one on display at duxford
  4. i shall have to look into them randall, something to put on my wish list
  5. an good read ratch and a great verity of aircraft, makes an interesting subject.
  6. the setting with the ground crew and covers off makes them much more interesting
  7. Nice looking aircraft and the setting in the hanger gives it a nice difference. The hanger setting gives you scope for doing things a bit different making a kit pristine as though its a restored plane like you see today or even give it markings to represent a plane of a different mark like they do for airshows would be a true representation of surviving aircraft today
  8. they have come out well ratch, i will look into trying a sponge for the mottling when i get around to building some that need it
  9. never thought about about changing some over to the Luftwaffe, i must think about doing some figures for once might just get me back into things doing something different
  10. they are looking good ratch the mottling looks good think that's what has put me off building these not having an airbrush. I've done the old 109 kit and did the the stippling with one of humbrols stipple brushes, it just doesn't look right no matter what i try, i do tend to stay away from it now
  11. thanks patrick but my eyes do struggle on close up things even with glasses, had a bag of quickset ( like cement but higher content of lime to set faster) burst open into my eyes as i picked it up some years ago and with age they can get tired quick when looking at things close up even when just building, but with time and practice i might get to a decent standard but no where near as good as you
  12. the painting of the detail is amazing i could never get it like that
  13. the paintwork looks good look forward to seeing them with the decals on
  14. the sellers were good about it, just sent them some photos of the missing bits and it was sorted. was a first finding photos of people at side of planes guess they were using them as a reference
  15. looks good you haven't forgot what you learnt over time away
  16. I've had the same problem as well ratch, but like you always got a refund back. i got the old dambuster set that came with the lancaster started and bits missing had to get another old lancater to use for bits but the 1:48 tornado was all there. even had a set come with a kit missing and photographs of people inside and that was put as still factory sealed.
  17. watching this with interest ratch I've not built any 109s yet but a few sat waiting in my stash and some after market decals for BoB aircraft
  18. Hi ratch what are the uniforms with the pale blue in them I've not come across those before, you are showing us plenty of options with these and how versatile they are
  19. they have come out really good ratch. i will be getting some at some point, got some RAF ones stashed somewhere that came with some sets so i think its time i gave them a try, not done figures before so its going to be a learning curve but i will be keeping in mind how you have cut and changed these and see what i can do
  20. have a look under humbrol techniques tips & craft and look for heading tools and things we use when building, a few of us put some ideas in there on what we use and what for. as ratch says you will stop building your tools and paints up let alone the amount of kits you get and put away for another day paul
  21. like the Luftwaffe personnel ratch this is a set I've looked at but not been too sure about but after looking at these think i will keep my eye out for a set ( at the right price some kits are going for daft money again) after looking at some of your other builds think i will start to get things over time and try my hand at a diorama at some point
  22. do like the lightning patrick the old kit still looks well. the mustang looks good in the blue and yellow
  23. its a nice looking model like the different shades on the panels, not something iv got around to trying yet
