  1. Big Noj, i will stick with tried and tested. Bachmann thingy looks gimmicky, with plenty to go wrong. Once released, no doubt we will get a feedback. Have a couple of their DC controllers, which are very basic.
  2. Modeler XYZ, I often simply run with the Elite, simply because of the time it takes my 21 year old laptop, to fire up. I must remember to turn it on, when I pre heat room. I am a total Elite supporter.
  3. Colin, hi, i use an Elite Elite. Its Technology runs every make of DCC locos, and very well, at that. I have not read any posts on here about Elite capabilities. Is not your controller, also, kinda expensive. I know nothing about the make, or what it does, but secondhand ones, seem expensive. I run 3 selects as walkabouts, and they also, do the job. When you see the probs occuring with these Blue tooth thingys, give me a walkabout, every time. Just saying.
  4. Big Noj, Think they mean in stock, then pre order, perhaps. Elite is an excellent controller.
  5. Robert, Hi, set up Elite, to work with Railmaster. You can then control via laptop, or Elite. Also, by buying a cable, you can use Select as walkabout. No power supply, necessary for Select in this rail. So , Controller ,A, Elite. Use Elink as controller B for points, accessories. No need to disconnect then at all. That’s what several on here do.
  6. Hi, BB, yup, I had read that, but still was a bit underwhelmed. Probably, me .lets see what comes out of live session.
  7. Well , that was a bit of a damp squib. Presume with so much still outstanding, its a catching up year. perhaps they are saving all their pennies for TT range.
  8. Atom, hi, have you looked at MTD locos .i have 2 , both 00, DCC Prosound, sound includes Cab Chatter, expensive , but build quality excellent. Out of interest, sound works on DC, as well.
  9. Simon, taint as simple as that, regarding conversion. In order to convert an old DC loco, firstly, it must be a perfect runner. If not, conversion is a waste of time, as it will perform badly. Thats why, i run both. Secondly, DCC, is not the be all and end all, its cracked up to be. Many, many people still prefer DC. One reason for DCC, is sound, which used not to be possible on DC, but Bachmann, MTH, and several others, now have sound on their DC locos. Tis also, expensive, to convert, and the older locos, need to be hard wired, and many, are very difficult to do. I have not added to my DCC locos, for several years, preferring to use my existing DC ones, as they just dont need the same care, and are very forgiving.
  10. Les, lucky you. Have you something big to pull it with. Think i read somewhere, it needs a strong loco.
  11. Simon, i had/have similar quandry with 100 DC locos and existing layout. When i was unable to go upstairs, my wife bought me the Majestic DCC set, which we set up downstairs. Upon recovery, i was faced with putting 2 layouts into one. Fortunately, space, is not a problem, so i built a new layout, upstairs. There are 2 DC designated tracks, with sidings, and next to them, 2 DCC tracks, sidings, turntable etc. They are Clearly labelled DC, and DCC, and only one or the other, is powered at any one time. Power switches, clearly labelled. In the unlikely case of a derailement, it matters not as only tracks i am running are powered at that time. Its not ideal, but neither was converting/selling 100 DC locos, or selling my DCC locos. I consider this is a workaround, and i wont bore you with double helix, TT, N gauge and Hornby Dublo 3 rail tracks, that comprise the whole thing. Thats the problem with starting collecting in your teens , and then going into DCC, at 75.
  12. Mike, hear hear. I have reported, his last post.
  13. Gazza, if they offer, let HRMS take over both your laptops, remotely. they can then sort both for you. They are very good at so doing.
  14. Fishy, yup, dont disagree, except, its very easy to forget/ change sequence, without thinking. If you remember, there was a spate of these, in the past, that reverting to correct start up sorted. I suspect HMRS, may advise, similarly, once they have looked into it.
  15. Gazza, hi, are you aware there is a starting up sequence with RM, and Elinks. You have to stick strictly to it, and then normally, it all comes good. This is explained on the sticky thread. I know, cos i originally, wrote it. You need to read it. Its all about, wait, wait, wait. You have to allow RM to find laptop, etc. My memory, aint what it was, but i belive you turn on elink, wait, wait, then turn on laptop, wait wait, then all necessary lights come on. Have a read, if you cant find it, post again. Usually, once one sticks to the required sequence, its fine. I have Elite, now, instead of Elink, but sequence exactly the same. Last thing RM does, is light up Green Elite symbol. Let us know how you get on. bon chance.
  16. Are we in storms and teacups territory. Does it work ok now. Been super learning curve for me.
  17. Was he the guy with pointed Ears, or the baby expert?
  18. Sorry Pardon. Please dont modify it the other way.
  19. Fishy, Happy Xmas. Give me the blame, why dont you. (part)
  20. Can you not forgoe the update. as that appears to be your problem.
  21. OP6, my HM6000, will be arriving on 9th jan. You can put what i know about Bluetooth and mobile phones, on a postage stamp, and still have room. Fortunately, the fountain of knowledge on forum, mods and other learned souls, will i am sure, willingly and happily, assist me in my installation, as they did with Elink and Railmaster. I will not update, immediately as learned, the error of so doing, with Railmaster. As for reading instructions, that has never been my strong suit, preferring to learn by mistakes. If i have learned something from this thread, it is. I Must read , learn, and inwardly digest before playing. I am behind others, not by choice, but due to the make and model of my mobile phone. Hornby, boffins, have bent over backwards, to allow this app to now work, for which, i thank them.
  22. since Simon left, it could be said the impetus on his project, has slowed, whether by world shortages, or change of policy. Again, not a criticism, simply observation. I would also like to increase my TT collection.
  23. I have a slightly different view on delays etc. This scale was the brainwave/ vision of Simon, who very much pushed its inception. Given the size of the company, in order to manufacture this, something had to give, and delays became apparent in 00 model deliveries. where the main market is. There had to be a day of reckoning, when the emphasis, returned to mainstream. At that point, there was a management change, with both Simon and his assistant, departing. In my view, the emphasis, moved somewhat, and TT, production, has suffered as a result. It would be interesting to know the present thinking, but it must be difficult to prioritise. I belive they have been caught on the back foot, with the surprising TT sales, and are now, taking steps to correct this.
  24. Hi, so OPs problem, kinda self inflicted, as no others of this nature have been reported.
  25. Are the updates automatic. or like Railmaster, when you can choose. Can they not be reset to previous one.
