  1. I disagree with Brew Man. On the other forum, where both i and at least 4 others from here, post regularly, their off topic section, runs well, without any Mod, adjustments. Surely, tis worth a punt. Easy to shut it down if it became a problem.
  2. The Boiler Room, a place where you can let off Steam.
  3. The Mess room is the name of such a section on my favourite forum, the canteen, off piste , perhaps.
  4. wandering off topic, unfortunately, does tend to occur, with members, who dont realize that it is frowned on, these days. In the past, both this, and banter, was acceptable, and its intolerance has led to the departure of several valued members. In my view, it is a shame, as now, a lot of us use emails to exchange advice, that in the past would have been shared. i hope that the new platform, will recognise this loss, and contain an area, as all other forums have, where a tad of banter, is permitted.
  5. DCC, and 7000, with Bluetooth, have not made explanations, simple. When it’s 00, or 3 Rail, it’s very easy to answer. Certainly, tis in my case. Those who have gone down the 7000, route, have a steep learning curve, and hence both their questions and answers, will be more technical. Our late lamented Chrissaf, had a gift of explaining the most technical problems simply, although, he was well known for the length of his replies. We have some very knowledgeable people on here, who do tend ,by the very nature of their Ability to give detailed replies. I think it’s a price worth paying.
  6. Yup, totally un necessary. Pendantic waste of forum space.
  7. Yup,great shame. Simon gave recent interview in which he suggested owner could resurface.
  8. Surely it makes more sense to keep all Alberto’s Videos. On one Forum. I for one, am quite happy where they are now. We allocated all J J s Videos to one place. I have posted about MTD, Rivarossi, from time to time, and always use uk forums.
  9. fishy, hi, thanks. Have got it running on ipad, but the pesky phone is the bane of my life.
  10. Ah well, nobody told me that. Do i actually have to remove app from ipad, or just disconnect. why wont my train move.
  11. Good news. Used Steves detailed set up, and ipad ok. But phone will find Nothing on scan. Brains trust please.
  12. well, what a shambles. thought as out of commission with stitched gums after extraction, would set up HMDC. Phone Still wont connect. OK, i thought, will use ipad. Great, connected fine, although loco wont move. Just started to try to understand, when ipad updated to new version of App, by itself. Now Nothing. Ipad nor phone will connect. Before i dump the thing, does anyone have any ideas or solutions, not happy.
  13. Simon, like you i have about 90 DC locos. So i built a layout with 4 separate tracks. First 2 DC only, clearly labelled. Inner 2 with points Turntable, etc DCC, again, Clearly labelled. So i can run 4 locos at once, should i wish, but totally, separate. I usually have a DC day, or a DCC day, meaning, only controllers turned on, are for that system. I have made DC controllers, have a light, so i know when they are on. I have the best of both worlds, as cannot afford to convert DC locos, even if i wanted to.
  14. Curious though, one shutting, and US one not taking orders.
  15. Model Train Stuff, currently not accepting orders, and site static. This poses 2 thoughts. Are they closing like Hattons, or are they stocking up/ reorganising as new Hattons. I suspect, the former.. Time will tell.
  16. I also ran a business. Our accountants were very to the point. Your stock has to turn over, twice a year. If it does not, get rid of the non moving lines, and replace with something that will sell. Do not attempt to be all things to all men.
  17. LT&SR. I would be quite happy to buy 0 gauge peco track, if i could sell enough 00. Easy in uk, but harder in France.
  18. TT, all but did in uk, for some time. It was only thanks to Simon, who was like a dog with a bone, that you have it now. He, was then thanked with Retirement. It is very big in europe, and no doubt, this helped its launch. I dont think any scale can die. Z has slowed down, as become costly for younger guys, and too fiddly for older ones. I have every scale except T, as dependant on where i lived, what i could run. Very spoilt here, as have ample space for anything. Even 0 gauge clockwork. Would like, 0 gauge, instead of 00, as now very good product.
  19. Fishy, hi, always the bearer of bad news. Was hoping i was ok. Me and mobiles, dont get on..
  20. Rob, thanks. So I Have to do the phone update, or will it be ok on what I have.
  21. steve , hi, i had probs downloading, which was fixed. Not tried it yet, minus 7, here. My phone and ipad have version 1.2 B6r1. Do i need to do it all again, or will it work, as is. john
  22. In other words, value is Not increased by certificate. Just enjoy using it,as has been said.
  23. I like a catalogue. Have not bought anything new apart from HM6000, for 3 years, but that does not stop me from window shopping. Us older members, know that much of the stuff shown will be on long back order, and if you really want something, it gives you extended time to save up. I would miss it, if it was stopped, and agree with Tony, it does keep you in the loop.
  24. Barry, i have just bought 2 new ipads, latest version, OS 17.2, 10th Generation, 64 GB, 10 inch screen, wifi, bluetooth. Very responsive, much faster than our previous ones. I looked at 12.9 inch, but they are quite heavy. I can happily carry this around layout and camera has to be seen to be belived. Little point in buying cellular, to my mind. I use Samsung 128 GB , model A 22. phone. Tis my intention to use both for layout , in due course.
