  1. Hi Jose, Do you have a Hornby Scalextric system or a Spanish Scalextric that is also known as SCX? In general, unless the track is in very good condition (use an Ohm meter) it isn't worth the time and effort to clean up old track except for for pieces that have no modern equivalent (Goodwood chicane and pitlane for example). Getting the old track to work though is simply a case of using the C8222 conversion pieces: https://uk.scalextric.com/products/converter-straight-x-2-c8222 And any modern powerbase of your choice.. I prefer the ARC powerbases as the APP offers a tons more over a standard powerbase: https://uk.scalextric.com/community/advice/app-race-control Good luck!
  2. IN fact the track power is the same (DC) it's just the input power that is different. Yes, you can use any and all cars and track. In fact you could even buy non-Hornby cars (shock...! ) :) Good luck!
  3. There is likely a wiring problem in the track. Unless you are savvy with electricity I suggest returning it and getting a replacement...
  4. Not sure why this was locked... Android devices require location services to be on usually. I don't know why... What app(s) are you using?
  5. Scalextric Sport track is one of the best connecting track out there. It requires no extra clips or anything. In fact simply layouts can even be picked up and moved around the room in one piece. If they are not connecting well you must be over stressing the connections with either too little or too much track. Simply pushing them together should suffice and they usually make a slight "click" sound. Could it be you do not have a Hornby product?
  6. Make sure you are using alkaline batteries. Rechargeable batteries don't have the same amps as alkaline ones do. What app are you using? What device are you using?
  7. Have you used the search here? The path for trouble shooting has been explained a few times... Otherwise get the set replaced from where you bought it or directly from Hornby.
  8. You can google "adding LED lights to slot cars" and get lots of options. There are small kits available on auction sites that usually cost 20-30 of your favorite currency. They all require soldering skills...
  9. Please don't double post. Maybe the Spark Plug info or other info on the Advice page might help: https://uk.scalextric.com/community/advice/formula-e-spark-plug-set-how-it-works
  10. Maybe something here? https://uk.scalextric.com/community/advice/formula-e-spark-plug-set-how-it-works
  11. You can use any of the ARC products to make the performance match any car: https://uk.scalextric.com/community/advice/app-race-control
  12. Where about in Canada if you don't mind me asking? I grew on the border Detroit/Windsor. Loved getting the CBC.. :-) You can use any supply as long as it matches volts and amps and the jack is the same size i.e. diameter and circumference. Back when things like Radio Shack existed you could go into one of those and easily find the required parts...
  13. HI Tom, I am not an electronic specialist but but I know that the Scaletxric digital system doesn't just use power but infra red (IR) waves and pulse width modulation. It also needs steady clean power on the rails. I can't say variable power supply won't work but you would have to try to match the amps and volts of the single or double power supplies to be sure to avoid damage. Unless you have a lot of electrical knowledge I would think simply adding a second power supply would be sufficient.

    2024?

TR6, TR4 (already exist as slot cars and/or Airfix kits)...
  15. To be honest I am not entirely sure what your question is? You mention 4 different sets and a total size of 13 feet (roughly 3 meters). Size of what? Boxes? Track length? What are trying to deduce? Whether or not a kid can handle the box? The largest set today is likely the Digital Platinum set: https://uk.scalextric.com/products/scalextric-arc-pro-pro-platinum-c1436m It has a 9 meter roughly 20 foot layout It was several kilos for sure but it come with a handle for easy transport...
  16. If you are referring to the digital lane changers and not the analog "crossovers" i.e. https://uk.scalextric.com/products/scalextric-racing-curves-track-accessory-pack-c8193 then yes, those have been out of production for well over 10 years. If you are planning on using them with the new ARC PRO powerbase you may have to modify them somewhat. Use the search here to find how many users got it to work. I believe the latest version of the powerbase is directly compatible but don`t quote me on that!
  17. Hi Emily, I am not 100% sure what you are trying to achieve. The Spark Plug replaces a controller and you can only ever have one or the other not both. You can also only have 2 cars on an analog set up at any time. https://uk.scalextric.com/community/advice/meet-spark-plug https://uk.scalextric.com/community/advice/formula-e-spark-plug-set-how-it-works If you want to play with 4 people you have to have 2 separate sets with 4 separate controllers. The only option to race 4 cars on the same track at the same time is to go with a digital set that is more cost at the beginning: https://uk.scalextric.com/community/advice/scalextric-digital https://uk.scalextric.com/community/advice/app-race-control All track is compatible with all sets except "Micro"... Good luck!
  18. Hi Bernard, You can of course use glue to hold them on but it sounds like there may be another problem. I suggest you contact Hornby directly (link is at the bottom of this page) and ask for assistance.
  19. Hi Ashley, That is a feature that has yet to be added in either the official app or the Magic ARC enthusiast made app. In theory though having the lap times and knowing the track length would suffice to easily deduce the the speed both in real and scale terms... Good luck!
  20. Search the word "worth" on the forum here and you will see the usual response.. If it is original in box then it will be worth more than an opened used/loved one but as far as how much....? Use the "Completed sales" search option on most online auction sites....
  21. One power base is all you need for 2 car analog racing up to 10 meters. Only if your layout gets much larger would you have to worry about power and then you would use "jumper cables": https://uk.scalextric.com/community/advice/track-maintenance See "Power drops.-.." Goo dluck!
  22. Hi Stephen, Thanks for the feedback. That makes I think 3 times this year that anyone has shown any appreciation to me : :-) If I understand what you are suggestion you basically want to wall off the edges of the table to prevent cars falling off completely? Most slot car clubs use fairly thick plastic, usually transparent and staple or nail it to the edges. I have also seen foam rubber used as it is kinder to the cars. Cheers Andy
  23. Hi Stephen, I am a big fan of guardrails and barriers. I am glad Hornby has started adding them to some standard sets. The short answer is, just like most humans, yes, as they get older they get brittle.... There seems to be a period in the early 80's where plastic is much more brittle. I see that on a lot of other items (toys) as well. Older stuff and later stuff seems to hold up better... They only things that might help is check the inside lip of the track as the often have some flaring from the manufacturing process. Running some low grit (80 to 40) sandpaper along then inside of the lip will "break the bead" and also make the plastic a little more forgiving. If you want to kind to the environment and not throw the barriers out that have lost the lug there are two things I have done in the past: Use hot glue to glue them to the track: Hot glue holds well and can be removed with alcohol. This make of course more sense if the the layout is semi-permanent. Advantages is it goes fast and does not harm the track or the barriers. The glue can come loose though and it can be messy. Also the tip of the glue gun could damage the track if you are not careful.Use a small screw to hold the barrier to the track. Get a very thin drill bit, like 1 to 1.5 mm and drill a hole through the barrier into the side of the track. Then use a screw that goes about 1 to 1.5 mm into the side of the track and screw it in. Advantage is it looks much cleaner and even simulates the mechanics of the barriers a but. Down side is you will have holes in the track and the barriers and it is time-consuming.On a side note: I have mentioned elsewhere but other 1/32 scale manufacturers make barriers that easily fit i.e. SCX (Spanish Scalextric) and Ninco. They look great and are longer so they take less time to mount. The Ninco ones are a little loose as Ninco track is like .2 mm thicker than Hornby track. Ninco barriers come in high fence versions as well. Vital when trying to avoid nose dives off the table! Good luck!
  24. 1/43 scale is also a common slot car scale. Standard Scalextric is 1/32 but Carrera and many other brands also have a 1/43 scale (as opposed to the roughly 1/64 scale of Micro Scalextric)....
