  1. Received from Rails today R3461 LNER Thompson L1........ 😆.......HB /media/tinymce_upload/734bb708b95f0318f1bf96e437e13ec2.jpg
  2. @81F....."Also I wonder what they used for the sound as their are no 2Ps left" They could possibly have used a recording of a Fowler 3F in preservation as they have similar 2 inside cyl & Stephenson valve gear arrangement.........HB
  3. Just installed a TTS sound decoder with a cube speaker into my old Hornby Dublo 2-6-4T.........it works ok but I had to increase the sound volume because the metal body mutes the sound compared to a modern plastic shell.......I would have been delighted but the chuff rate is about a quarter of what it should be so not so good and I can't blame the loco gearing being different to the modern 2P loco because the slow chuff is just as bad in that......HB /media/tinymce_upload/a9aec05560aec3ce21b26d1f0e72d983.jpg I fitted an 8 pin socket first......... /media/tinymce_upload/d627cb43e35e98cff5bfb5e2c86df575.jpg and then plugged in the TTS........the cube speaker is pressed into bluetac in the boiler space below the chimney........ 😆
  4. @2eric........it's just an illusion......the red wire is connected on the underside.......... 😆..........HB
  5. The Hornby X9659 4 pin decoder is only 17 x 10 x 4mm (same as the R8249) but with only 4 wires attached is much easier to install in a small space.........HB /media/tinymce_upload/6d96fb51d3820c83cdeaffcb683d3f08.jpg
  6. Last week purchased a class 2P TTS decoder from Sheffield and installed into Hornby S&DJR 2P loco but not happy with sound reproduction from the basic speaker so just upgraded the speaker with a YouChoos Flame 10 brick speaker.........a marked difference in the sound quality, more base and no distortion in higher frequencies........very pleased, HB /media/tinymce_upload/f7c2164ce5b12f18306229aa4accac4d.jpg
  7. Well, that's put an end to this thread........I've read all the recent posts and, for the life of me, cannot find any adverse comment from anybody that would justify PJ's comments in the above post......... 🤔......HB
  8. A Hornbyb TTS decoder for the Fowler 2P......... /media/tinymce_upload/fee39fdcc8ad5ed822aede2484ce0219.jpg and one of these.........a step down converter module......... /media/tinymce_upload/79eb34ed4e5e5e6a6d5655e42b8d770d.jpg
  9. Not a chance..........designed only for Dynamis Ultima system
  10. Taking into consideration Brexit, the USA with a new President, the increased price of Marmite and other life changing factors I will predict 1st April, 2019...... 🤔........HB
  11. @81F.........Your comment...."The tanks will need some fettling to get rid of the planked effect that seems to come with the 3D modelling package." reminded me that in AutoCad there is a setting for the number of segments in a circle which affects the smoothness of the curve.......looking at your 2721 body it would appear that there are only 6 segments to the 90 deg arc of the boiler..........if your software could be reset to 96 segments or more per circle then your end result would be much smoother.........just a thought...... 😀.......HB
  12. 2 x R3393TTS class 47.........going to try and and transfer one of the TTS decoders & speaker into a Heljan class 47 loco which is much better spec than the Railroad version........HB
  13. Yes, you can consist any two locos, the controller only sends signals to motors so body style is irrelevant.......your Select handbook has instructions on how to create and control Double Heading (consist)...........HB
  14. @ WTD.................the coin is 27mm diam.........HB
  15. This year's acquisitions on the prog track.........what an eclectic mix, Hornby, Bachmann & Oxford.......oh, and a 40 yr old Fleischman 'N' gauge...........Mallard is TTS, an excellent model..........HB /media/tinymce_upload/5e758d71ece685cbda495b2c8a285bd4.jpg
  16. Just received R3395TTS Mallard LNER class4 '4468'............my first Hornby TTS locomotive and very good value for £79.50.............even in railroad trim it is very well detailed and looks good..........it worked perfectly straight out of the box and I'm impressed by the range of sounds..........my only reservation is the sound reproduction, I think a better speaker would be worth installing........ 😀......HB
  17. @Hosh...............thought you had us fooled there did you, Hosh, but we all know that 2017 is not a leap year?.......I'm sure Hornby's LD will be released soon........... patience is a virtue so SWMBO tells me... 🤔.. HB
  18. My guess is 1st August 2016 to coincide with the opening of the new visitor centre in Ramsgate (again my guess)........... 😮......HB
  19. The LSWR Radial........fitted an 8-pin direct decoder after a bit of filing but all is well.......... 😀....HB /media/tinymce_upload/989649b06fff41702469a4b8c1ab49d7.jpg
  20. L&YR 2-4-2 Tank 10713 in LMS Crimson /media/tinymce_upload/a468c18442717060724424bf561ab57e.jpg
  21. Just arrived........club exclusive Sutton Terrier..........a little beauty 😆........needs a decoder though, will need careful installation.........HB
  22. @magfan..............my apologies to you for incorrectly accrediting that list to you and apologies to PJ for not giving him the credit for posting it.............slapped wrist & pay attention in future HB.
  23. As compiled and posted by Magfan.....for quick reference on the LD thread posters....HB. Lets bring back the list of commands... All these can be used when programming what Loco went over a sensor. All these commands can be programmed in any or every sensor. Loco Detection Commands - On signal green On signal red For Locos; For train type(s) For forward direction For reverse direction For any direction Stop loco Stop loco on signal Resume loco on signal Reduce loco speed to Increase loco speed to Set to cruise speed Switch right point Switch left point Set clear signal Set danger signal Activate loco function Play sound file Run program file So you can set speeds, set signals, set points, play tunes, etc and as fishy stated, Run a program.
  24. @Hosh.................I think you are being very disingenuous to Hornby, they have not deliberately failed to introduce LD, obviously they have hit technical or commercial issues which have delayed rollout...........Why you think Block Detection is what we need I can't imagine, it is an outdated concept. You commented back in April 2012 that neither Railmaster nor the Elite could handle Block Detection so why do you imagine that Hornby would redesign both and risk the wrath of thousands of existing users. When Hornby finally perfect the new system and can confidently present it to market I'm sure many thousands of enthusiasts will embrace it and fully enjoy the benefits.HB
  25. Arrived today, my first weathered loco, a class 3F 0-6-0 in BR black and DCC fitted all for £79, a little beauty!! HB.
