  1. My apology. I should have taken the minute in took, to google scalextric auto union and see many pictures of this car. Also found on that page , that there is an current ebay auction going on , with pictures showing the underside with the steering front end and the larger rear tires. gorp
  2. Googled scalextric lemans start track showed many pics. But did not see any red buttons. Greenhills in old world list track in stock and you should check electric deams in new world.
  3. What happened to the train ? What do you do with your empty plastic cases ? Is that a record award on the wall ?
  4. WOODCOTE , PLEASE come back to 1/32 . gorp
  5. As a backup to app, suggest finding an earlier used battery powered scaly sport lap counter.
  6. Sorry. Since retiring , worked through the shut down with fragile people and dealt with many other fools, who still believe it is a hoax. But now working up to 6 days aweek with own small art business which has never lost money and the part time job which has an employee shortage due to the virus and others not willing to work currently. So not willing to spend my very limited free time doing free research for those too lazy to do it themselves, when am trying to catch up with some sleep.
  7. On second thought , if you do have a regulated varable power pack, you could test it to see what is the lowest voltage required to operate. This could potentially solve the vintage f1 problem of excess speed with a fragile toy. Up to now solution has been to buy a slower motor to install. Yes scaly , besides the app, has wired ontrollers that can be adjusted but believe h o does have some power packs that are adjustible . One of the problems people have complained about here is wanting lower speed for their younger children and only answer is use the app or adjustible controllers. Believe scaly should release an adjustible power pack too, which would be a strong selling point
  8. When scaly released digital it required regulated power. If your old home made variable power supply fits that description then it might work. or you can buy a modern regulated variable power supply that should work , BUT with arc air you have chosen to go with bluetooth wireless controllers and that may require a minimum power source. Currently use a 13.8 volt 10 amp regulated for my digital and analog with arc pro , with or without app. It has less power so toys are naturally slower. From what have read years ago that was near the low limit for digital track power requirements which may have changed since the early years but this is not about digital. Another thing you must consider is the motors in your cars. Scaly makes the standard can which is slower than the full speed ahead long narrow bike motor. That fact alone will affect speed and handling (along with magnet use ). Here avoid the bike motor like the plague and thus my choice of which cars to buy. You may need to check at slot forum to find minimum power requirements of arc air powerbase.
  9. You probably do not know this, but Andy is a volunteer here and does have a real life. You can contact numerous merchants on the net that deal with older cars and possibly get answers there. Many older cars have been modified so that may be causing your problem but pictures of about anything can be found if YOU take the time to search.
  10. Glad to see you got through the startup procedure. All scaly cars now come with magnets. A used car could have the magnet removed for those who preferr to use lead for handling. Then we come to how good are the rear tires , as age hardens them. More tire traction is achieved by using silicone (deposits ) or urethane (cleans track) tires. You will need to check lists at different vendors or serch for the specific toy review for suggested sizes and brands. In the old world start with pendle and new world 132slotcar.us , professor motor, and electric dreams. Of course they may not have them in stock and offer alternatives , but you will figure it out. However digital has other needs to reduce damaging the chip by straining the motor. Avoid adding more magnets and excessive weight to a digital car with a scaly chip (what you currently own , but they are getting stronger , while slotit does make the best for upgraded motors and magnets) . As a reminder , for future growth, it always helps to have a second power pack if the power base allows it.
  11. Mr Black , are you saying the wire is broken off at the moving slider or at the board ? The discovery of potential problems is major. Would you please post pictures of this ?
  12. In the northern hemisphere this is summertime, when the living is suppose to be easy. But we have the virus to deal with along with politics in the new world and brexit in the old. With many locations now loosening up their restrictions, people are putting away their toys which were usefull during the shelter in place stage to pass the time and instead are going outside. Slot racing normally goes on an hiatus until fall when newbies arrive to ask about which set to buy and then how to make it work. So am enjoying the quiet time again.
  13. Had a similar problem back when first digital f1s came out but only with 1 car. Sent it back to 132 slotcar.us to check out since Alan was doing repairs then for scaly usa. He could find anything wrong with it but appeared that the chip was moved futher from motor and more tape had been added between the two. Still not happy with the faster smaller bike motor and could not control it until pbpro-sh allowed adjusting motor curve and believe later that feature was found on the advanced and arc pro with the app. Decided to sell all my scaly f1s and just use the better performing indy dallara for open wheel racing after chipping them.
  14. Truly impressive. You have moved the memory ability of the scaly challenger to the app for all cars to use . But on a normal smaller home track with far shorter straights , how is this an improvement over a rubber band ?
  15. Correction on testing green controller. Leave app OFF Test under digital. Set faulty green controller to red setting. If green controller works on red , then problem is powerbase. If green controller does not work on red , then problem is controller. Andy will probably ask couple more questions and have you contact scaly customer service on right side of screen. In states personally. have just called scaly usa, so they will send replacement under warranty.
  16. Basicly the switches change to another of the 4 channels and you will need to reset all controllers when the channel is changed. This topic was recently on general forum on discussion about running arc pro at same time as arc air but on separate tracks. DO NOT PANIC Had same problem with controllers when tried first time and kept making mistakes. Second time followed Quick Start Guide instructions slowly. First if the track is to be used for digital and analog racing with arc pro, it MUST be built to analog track standards. 2ND, do not know how your track is currently constructed, so we will go over connecting the controller with the arc pro powerbase out of track. 3rd , Woodcote , who used to be here to answer questions long and politely, seems busy with HO currently. He wrote the missing arc pro manual at slotracer.online and had several easy rules which believe are covered in manual or at top of this page at help and advice. The best one he had was arc pro has left to right red, green, blue , yellow..., so lane 1 and car 1 and controller 1 is red to match what happens on app because it is also color coded to red, green ... and thus ends confusion. The green controller is set to lane 2 ,car 2, and controller 2 to fit app and so on On analog, you use only red and green controllers and only those lights are on powerbase. Do not know how your arc pro came, with other colored controllers instead , but eventually you will need to reset them so avoid the confusion of the app. Ok you have quick start guide on pages 8 and 9 and arc pro is out of track. Turn off everything including unplugging powerbase and KEEP APP OFF and any other blue tooth devices that are running in household (which is why you may need to change to different channel but not now. Turn on working controller only , will go to red then go off, then turn it off. Do the same for nonworking controller, changing to red and then going off. If the non working controller did not do same as working, change the batteries again. Retry, same failed result, then problem is controller. OK , if both controllers passed, we will go on. My rule is all changes of powerbase from digital to analog and back again are done with everything off, meaning powerbase is unplugged ( have switch on cord here to shut off power ) along with controllers and app shut off. Set analog with side switch toward track and then power up. You will see the top flash orange continuously and all 6 controller yellow lights will flash on then off. (they do the same when starting on digital ) The orange flashing light is powerbase searching for app which is turned off. (When using scaly arc app it will be turned on at this point , I think, and not after controllers but right now cannot remember since seldom use it. The app itself will either show arc pro for digital or arc air for analog running .) But again, we are not using app for this setup. Turn on working controller which now has solid red light on top of it and it should show solid yellow light under red or green on powerbase, Then turn it off. Turn on fauty controller if it passed first test and it should light up with solid red light on top and the other color, red or green has solid yellow under it. If another color lights up other than red or green, this must be corrected for analog. If same yelow lights up for 2nd controller, then one controller needs to be changed. If no yellow light , time to connect it to powerbase. Turn off fauty controller. Press down and HOLD red or green on powerbase and that light will turn green. Fully squeeze the trigger and turn on controller. Release button on powerbase and trigger, the powerbase light should be solid yellow and controller solid red. (yes I know this requires 3 hands but here hold button down with littlle finger while squeeing tigger with other hand and using first hand thumb to turn controller on.) On page 5 you will find out what lights mean. Good luck and if it fails again at last step, try doing again slowly and then resetting channel underneath if necessary but again you will have to reset both controllers.
  17. Will skip the long answer. Short answer is you will never regret having a 2nd power pack. See slotracer.online for arc pro manual.
  18. yes BUT you will need to change the guide to a thinner one that works with scaly track , sport or classic, and has usually been provided by carrera with new car. If you get these without that replacement guide when you buy them, plan to buy some. to use it on your track. Now if they are digital, carrera eventually changed their chip design to allow them to operate on analog. Check net then for steps to switch over to analog. If toy will not change over, you will need to rewire lead wires from motor to guide. Personally do not like carrera cars but to each their own.
  19. What would like to see with all digital changers , including pitlanes , in the future is a access port to allow easy connecting to off track power. Scaly could make money off the upgrade, the power supply, and the connecting wires , and we would get more reliable, constant power for the cars . WIN WIN
  20. The great, easy, original slot forum mod of curved changers made 2 separate lanes of power for digital and analog and was accomplished with a couple simple snips. Straight cross overs are one of the greatest drivers of having to buy new cars since parts seem to be harder to find but the demo derby + crossing are even better for wreaks . As for pitlanes, am sure that mobs of people want them for that purpose and it would become a top seller, but will pass since straight dual changers can serve that same function. Then back in the beginning, when the curved lane changes were only thing available, found the in to out to be the most troublesome piece so tried to build tracks using only out to in and also used the curved crossovers more. Now do not use either curved changers or crossovers.
  21. How hard is it to plug in the controllers and power pack to race ? If he needs car advice see help and advice at top. If he needs suggested possible track ideas, do a search and see original box with them.
  22. Rereading this, wonder if you are actually complaining about cars becoming unlinked and not the controllers ? If that is the case, the main cause is usually the 2 piece round guide has become loose and needs reassembly properly - see help and advice at top of page. However if the cars are fine after you relink the controllers only , try running it with app turned off .
  23. There are dealers on the net, mainly in the UK, that deal in old parts for old cars. Try searching under car name and C number. Also check at other sites like slot forum and slotracer.online .
