NWR-Gordon-4
Does anybody know why the two Hornby Spencer's had black driving wheels? This incorrect. Spencer is supposed to have wheels the same colour of his bodywork. I just can't understand why Hornby painted them black. This is the only thing I don't like about the Hornby Spencer, but the rest of the model is perfect. The only time Spencer was scene with black driving wheels is in 'Hero of the Rails' Nintendo DS and Nitendo Wii video game's and one scene in the 'King of the Railway' special, which are mistakes. If somebody has any imput into this, then please post them below. Thanks.

NWR-Gordon-4
How is that saving money, when the wheels are painted on Hornby Spencer? They are painted black, which is the wrong colour.
walkingthedog
Because they can use a standard stock black wheeled A4 chassis and stick a Spencer top on it. No other work required.
NWR-Gordon-4
Maybe Hornby can and thry did, but they shouldn't have done, becasue this spiolt the model, despite being so detailed and well made. I still love my Hornby Spencer, but him having black wheels was still a shock and not nice to see.
walkingthedog
I think it looks rather smart, nice contrast between the top and bottom. You'll have to paint them.
NWR-Gordon-4
Do you think Spencer looks smart? I am used to it now, becuase I've has him for 9 years later this year. I guess he does look smart, but still it isn't correct to the TV series.
trainlover23
I have a Henry with green wheels and it is original HORNBY. Don`t ask where it came from as it is such a long time ago I have forgoten in the mists of time.
96RAF
Maybe his other wheels were in the wash.
Shadow.Monk
Either paint them or purchase a loco with similar coloured wheels and swap them.
NWR-Gordon-4
@trainlover23 Henry is supposed to have green wheels. @Shadow.Monk I don't want to do that and ruin my lovely Spencer.

The00Engine
The Hornby Spencer is inaccurate to Spencer from the TV Series in many ways, not just the wheels. His boiler is too sloped and wide, and his funnel has 2 chimenys instead of 1. At least you can paint the wheels!
NWR-Gordon-4
I prefer the double funneled A4 Pacfic's anyway, so Spencer having this doesn't make a difference to me. That is how Hornby's A4 Pacific looks. Spencer is a repaint of there stand range, just like almost all of the Thomas range.

RDS
@JacobAs far as I can tell, you are probably our resident Thomas expert on this Forum. As such, I would expect you to be answering questions, not always asking them!
walkingthedog
I answered a question on here a short while ago and asked Jacob why he was asking the question and my answer was removed. Why?
ChloeAmy
Jacob has reported us before if we say something that he doesn't agree with, so now that we question him more (about the topic we're on) they get removed anyway. It's so dumb, we can't even have an opinion.

RDS
@ChloeAmy, of course you can have an opinion but what the Forum does not need or want are personal comments aimed at other members. This is primarily a Model Railway forum and not a place to have an online slanging match with someone. If you just want to do that there are plenty of alternative sites for you. Tony57
HiIn the real world the silver wheels would have turned black from oil, brake dust, coal dust, ash dust etc. and would take teams of cleaners hours to clean ofter each run. The 4 Silver A4 Locos of the LNER all ended up with black wheels after starting out with silver grey ones as they were difficult to keep clean.By the way who is Spencer he does not appear in any of the Original 24 Railway Stories which are based on real railway practices and situations.
