  1. For which I am very gratefulblush
  2. I have started separating people from sprues - I have a large number of both standing, seated and loco crew that need painting. They have come from Modelu, Hardy's Hobbies (sadly now closed down) and a colleague who regularly posts on the forum who prints his own - he is patreon of Modelu, who for a monthly subscription send you 3d files which allows you to print your own figures or whatever. I am not sure what will be more fun, painting the figures or opening up the carriages to put the seated figures in place.
  3. @LesXRN - Corridor connections are available from third party suppliers - I have some somewhere, but have never fitted them.
  4. I usually use the last four numbers from the cabside numbers (unless it only has three). Using both the Hornby Elite and the iPhone it has always worked for me.
  5. I don't recall it being HM I thought it was Model Rail? - I have subscribed to the magazine for years, and it normally arrives a few days before being available over the counter. I note in the last edition that it says next edition due on the 11th January 2024 - so a couple of days after the 2024 announcements - it will be interesting to see whether it arrives earlier?
  6. There is normally a "deal" with both the catalogue and Hornby Magazine be bought together. The next edition of Hornby Magazine would normally be available now (beginning of the month), but I assume is being held back as it will(?) contain details of any 2024 model announcements.
  7. I thought I had read that 2024 would be a "catch-up" year? So we should not expect too much? Also that Hornby would not announce "new" items until they were about to become physically available. We shall see next week.
  8. @ ColinB - The green HD SNG's have asking prices in the £350/£450 range. There are two or three on ebay.
  9. Slightly off topic, but I have Kaydee track mounted magnets in my fiddle yard, and by using the uncoupling shuffle/creep mode I find it works every time. I agree with DS that being able to uncouple anywhere would be a bonus.
  10. Happy New Year to everyone - I hope 2024 is good to you.
  11. I find the cleaning pad cloth(?) can catch on point rod pins if they are a fraction too long.
  12. Hi John - I have a Sharge track cleaning wagon, and a Class 08 pulls it with no trouble. B
  13. A very nice loco DRC and a good collection of Hornby Catalogues. I don't collect the catalogues as such, but I do have them all from 1993 - I just bought one each year and added it to the pile.
  14. A good deal from the current Hornby Sale - with the use of some of my Reward Points, this coach cost me £3.95 for postage, although it came by courier. The cream(?) is lighter than the other Maunsell coaches I have in this livery.
  15. Sorry John, but your losing me as to why you would want to import a picture. When you open your app, and call up a particular loco, you get the option to create an image of your loco. By hitting "edit" you get the option to either import, take photo and remove image. By tapping "take photo", which assuming you decide to do, you then get the option to "use the photo" and by tapping that option, the photo is then attached to that particular loco. No need for cropping or pixel counts. When you take the picture, you decide whether you want a close-up or something else.
  16. I have just taken pictures of all my HM7000 loco's using the app - the app is on my iPhone - you get the option to "use the picture".
  17. A Happy Christmas from me to everyone - I hope you all have a great day.
  18. My boards (layout) are in a centrally heated, double-glazed small bedroom (10x7). I painted all of my boards with a 50/50 pva/water solution before painting it all brown. No problems after ten years.
  19. This arrived yesterday - lovely loco and superbly packaged - nothing fell off or was loose in the box. I used to see this A4 regularly back in the late 1950's when I was spotting at New Southgate (a few stops out of Kings X.
  20. Brilliant - well done Mikey to you and your team.
  21. I received the 200 "Birthday" points last March - so the offer is genuine.
  22. I have used a variety of PSU's with voltages varying between 3v and 12v. Resistors fitted in each case, and the on/off switch in each case is a dimmer switch (voltage regulator). I have had not trouble (blown LED's) since I installed everything. The shop lighting is left "bright" on the ground floor and then varies (home made diffusers) to dim lights on other floors. All lighting was installed during build.
  23. Hi Paul - Welcome to the forum. There are a number of companies selling boards, in various sizes - if you get hold of a copy of Hornby Magazine, Railway Modeller etc., there are usually a number of ads., from these companies. Before deciding on your board, you might want to consider whether your layout is going to be a permanent fixture, or something you have to move when you have finished "playing". Also, depending on your woodworking skills, you could easily make your own. The top surface could be 9mm/12mm ply, and it should sit on a 3x1 framework. If you look at the Model Railway Solutions site, you can see how the boards are constructed. Their products are not cheap - I used them, and built my boards (they come in kit form) in 2013/14 and they are still very solid. I hope this is of some help, and I and others will be interested to see how you get on. BB
