  1. While waiting for a previous post to be cleared by mods (apparently the forum dislikes the King's English 🤐) I'll post a couple of screenshots. One shows the selected/deselected sections while the other shows that the deselected sections still clutter things up. And I still get unwanted drops from the Scalextric and Airfix sections.
  2. They'll find their way back if they think it's worthwhile. I took have no interest in TT and have deselected that section to no effect. It feels that TT is growing (great for Hornby in general) but at the expense of OO developments. By that I mean the paucity of new items announced in the OO catalogue compared with the TT announcement last week. HM7000 development seems to have slowed as well. Is TT sucking funds from the Hornby pot?
  3. The last four digits of the decoder address. eg HM7000_5C02 becomes a4c138005c02
  4. Almost certainly it will. Be aware that the last four digits of the decoder address, as referred to by Rob, may contain capital letters but they have to be typed in lower case. Also don't confuse the number 0 with the letter o.
  5. A question that has been asked many times. Simple answer - no. That is where the Bluetooth ariel is located so cutting it off will destroy the decoder and cannot be repaired. Hornby do have plans for a potentially smaller decoder using smaller but more expensive components but there is no indication as to when they may be available.
  6. Yes, it's a pain but perhaps not as bad as you think. When you relink each loco the app should recognise that you already have a sound profile loaded to the decoder and will prompt you to reload from the decoder rather than from the profiles available from the app. It's much faster. I'm in the process of upgrading my tablet (again) and have sixty to do. Hornby have been asked to comment on the potential to develop a backup system. I think this is essential as many users will be building large collections as the system matures. This is the second time I've had to do it (my choice) and am seriously considering just using the DCC side of the system in future.
  7. Still too big for TT. As you say, may invalidate your warranty.
  8. Just make sure you have made a note of the reset codes for each decoder - you may need them.
  9. Unassign each loco then delete and unlink them from the first device. Scan on the new one and link as normal. It will detect the existing profile so just accept the option to import it.
  10. All the relevant information has been in the public domain for more than enough time for the pre-order to have been cancelled if you felt it was not for you. As it is, your outrage is misplaced as you can see from the replies above.
  11. The way to clear this is well documented on the forum and in the TXS troubleshooting guide. Switch off the tablet and the loco for a couple of minutes then switch everything back on and rescan.
  12. If you do choose to readdress your fleet, one convention is to use the last four digits of the loco number so 46135 becomes 6135. A other way is to take the first two and the last two so 46135 becomes 4635. This tends to include the class as part of the address. Either way you don't need to remember them as the numbers are written on the side of each loco.
  13. Buy cheap, buy twice. You are likely to find that the cheaper units from unknown manufacturers will be made from inferior materials. Corrosion will be forever an issue with spares likely to be nonexistent. However, the makes you mentioned will not suffer either of those issues. As for price - they are precision engineered pieces of quality equipment and that reflects in the price.
  14. You're right Rob, apologies. Wires from Hornby Towers to the router then WiFi to the tablet then Bluetooth to the decoder. What could go wrong? 😔
  15. It's WiFi that fetches the file from Hornby Towers Rob.😏 As you say, my inquiry is just the final bit, transferring the files to the decoder via Bluetooth.
  16. For the purpose of this exercise absolute accuracy is not essential. As Rob says after a minute or so, the counter settles and would usually indicate between 15 and 25 mins depending on the profile - that is the time indication I am looking for. For the record, mine settles on a much greater time and I can't figure out why.
  17. Since the last update (which also coincided with me changing my tablet 🥴)I have found a change in performance when it comes to loading new sound profiles. I'm interested to find out if others are having similar experiences. My interest is focussed on the time taken to load the SPIROM to the decoder so I would be grateful if forum members could provide the following details from their own experience. Average time to download (SPIROM only) as shown on the app. Number of locos held in the Engine Shed Make and model of phone/tablet Thanks very much for your help.
  18. While some have managed it by accident, they are not designed to operate that way. I would not recommend trying.
  19. Eye protection is a must. I use a pair of cheap but sturdy side cutters then dress the end of the pin with a Dremel. As has been said before do it slowly to avoid melting the tie rod. It's sometimes useful to have a small wet cloth to cool the pin
  20. TTS will work perfectly well via the app and dongle.
  21. As Rob says, it's all in hand. Android sometimes requires you to look for updates so just check in your account on the Play store from time to time. If there is nothing waiting you know you are on the latest release.
  22. Yes, I had noticed some lag which the development team rectified at the last update. I'm at around 60 locos (not added any non sound locos so far) and it seems ok at that level. I did see a comment the other day regarding an arbitrary value applied to in-app memory by the external developer so I suspect this will be adjusted in due course. I also think that as the system matures and users load up more and more locos, the capacity is being established. The question will be whether the capacity, if it has been restricted by the developer, can be expanded to cope with us kleptomaniacs.
  23. I organised the engine shed numerically (drag and drop the locos to the required order). Then I set the locos to either active or inactive depending whether they are on or off the layout. Then hit the 'hide inactive' button. Then only the locos you are using are then at the top of the screen in order in the ribbon. I also use the following format for the loco description: Full number/class/name/rly co./TXS or TTS eg 4468 A4 Mallard LNER TXS
  24. No one outside the development team can answer the question of when.
