  1. Hornby do a class 66 sound decoder. Is your 66 DC ready ? If so pop the lid off, plug the decoder in off you go . If your 66 is not DCC ready then you will need to fit this yourself .pretty straight forward .the 66 tts is due in may The javelin as far as I know has no tts decoder available yet .you may need to source from an open model shop . Bear in mind a sound decoder also has a motor function and you might need two for the javelin to work the lights if so wish .this can be an ordinary decoder.
  2. Don't force the screws if it will not slacken, tighten it slightly then slacken .Ensure you don't cross thread it .Nice and steady .
  3. Wire 2 bulbs in series with each other .if you find this is still too bright wire 3 in series with each other this will supply each bulb with 4 volts each on a 12 volt power supply .
  4. Looks like a trainsave tsv212 .new modellers have couple in stock .
  5. I think the thing to do is try it .don't fasten the track down .see which works best . I have the j15 but no 1st radius .
  6. 1 ...Yes as long as the decoder has CV 29 set to DC enabled 2... No it will not damage the decoder.
  7. Rub your finger tip right round your track .if your finger is black after your track needs cleaning . Might be worth cleaning the inside flanges of your wheels too.
  8. Exactly when tender driven loco's stopped I am unsure but I have not bought any new loco's in the last 8 years which have been tender driven .

  11. I soldered 4 traintech signals to the track ,programmed up .the longest part was waiting for the soldering iron to warm up .
  12. Same loco different rolling stock .remember a train is a loco and stock.
  13. To eliminate one from the tother can you rig up a controller straight on to the motor connections in the tender .Start at a slow speed ,slowly raising the volts on the motor .Undercutting the comm on the motor also helps .also check that the side to side movement on the comm is not excessive.
  14. No Jimmy it means a class 6 for passengers and a class 5 for freight .6P5F.
  15. Some loco's have mixed numbers say 6P5F. Jubilee were 5XP express passenger Lms becoming 6P BR
  16. P for passenger T for tank engine F for freight MT for mixed traffic Class (x) the power of the loco
  17. Possibly the back to back measurement of the loco is causing the short It is most likely your track gauge will not indicate a DCC voltage.
  18. This indicates where the problem is .yes the point clips should make the rest of the layout live.remove the clips give the track inside the point a good clean and replace .ensure the point rails are shiny .persevere in this area until working. I assume your points are hornby ?? Peco are different
  19. Upload a picture of your layout and show where your connections are from the controller .
  20. You seem to have missed the point .
  21. Red and black are lamps green is the negative return . So power to the common on your switch red to one side black to the other green back to negative (if a led type you may require a resistor in line ).
  22. Standard PVA glue will stick polystyrene , both to itself and wood .
