  1. Anyone got any tips on how to find locos in the App? With Engine Sheds growing, I'm finding the control screen upper selection "ribbon" harder to scroll across and find the loco I'm looking for due to a various reasons, mainly: 1) A larger number on locos to scan through 2) Greyed out text and images makes visibility harder (see example image below) For now, I've added a sequential number to the description of each loco, so armed with a crib sheet, I can find it that way.
  2. A wise choice in my experience. I did a raised section many years ago, followed a "Triang-Hornby" track plan. It ended up too steep though and only locos with rubber tyres would go up the incline. They do add an extra dimension to the layout though and at the stage you are at you could mock it up to see how you feel about it.
  3. Assuming you have the R8243 Surface Mounted Point Motor? there are two things to be aware of: 1) The two small baseboard fixing screws could be too tight, try slacking them off slightly. 2) You need to leave time between switching the points for the HM6010 CDU to recharge, e.g. 2 seconds.
  4. It's also worth adding that the Control screen crops further:
  5. FYI, on the topic of importing images, there are subtle differences between the way an iPhone and iPad displays locos. Essentially, an iPad in landscape mode is less forgiving with having a much narrower "letterbox" which can lead to more cropped images than the iPhone if not careful. Examples below: Original image: iPhone import: iPad Import (Portrait): iPad, same Loco setting screen, just in Landscape mode: Another comparison:
  6. Technically there is just one version of the software, it starts life in "evaluation mode" until you enter your registration key to enable and activate its features. There is no other download. Have you got your registration key and have you ever entered it? The download issue sounds like your browser has blocked the file or your antivirus software has quarantined it. However, if you have 1.74 rev5 running in Evaluation mode, you don't need to worry about downloading it again.
  7. Where are you seeing 'unregistered', I'm not seeing it on mine. Can you post a screen shot?
  8. I'd take @The Last Ninja images all day, they are just the right size to import and fit the screen space without adjustment. Also, they are small in file size which is what I now know the app needs if you have lots of locos to import. As commented on before, I'd like to see the RailMaster loco library sized large enough and made available for the app.
  9. Yes, the app needs a thin letter box of the loco in the middle of an image when importing, can still be hit and miss though. iPhone though does a better job, iPad is very fuzzy on position for some reason.
  10. Update 2: Having taken on board the recommendation from @The Last Ninja, I used Lightroom to reduce my images to around 100-200k in size, any smaller and there was too much digital noise present for my liking. Anyway, at that smaller size I've now got the App running at 95 images. Size does matter ! Much more than this though and the app does start to crash again.
  11. That's my experience too, in particular with the Lion. My modelling skills just couldn't do it that tiny . In fact I find the Lion works best in DCC mode as it will quickly recover after a power loss but BT tends to drop the connection.
  12. It is good and I hope the development continues into the future. For me there are benchmarks in place such as the functionality of RailMaster / TGG / Loco Detection / Program Control / Layout Schematic etc which I hope we may see at some point.
  13. Thank you @The Last Ninja, following discussions yesterday I'd managed to find a way in to delete images until the crashes stopped. I've taken your suggestion regarding smaller images and that's worked, even significantly more than the arbitrary 30 limit. Images are not quite to the same standard, but they will do for now
  14. Update: By following the steps below I was able to delete some images from dongle locos: Tap on Control Screen. (JoyStick icon). Tap on Locomotive Settings for a given locomotive. Tap on Edit and remove the image. Repeat this process for multiple locomotives in the Control Screen. Once I was down to having only 35 locos with images, there were no further crashes. At least now I can add the rest of my locos, just without images, until a fix is found
  15. Thank you, the other recommendations I received was to: Ensuring full charge of the ipad. Ensuring all other apps are closed other than HM | DCC. Ensuring Low Power Mode is not ON. Ensuring you have free space on the iPad. Unfortunately in my case "the horse has bolted" so hoping a fix can be found without needing to delete and start all over
  16. FYI, i just tried this on one of my recent threads but couldn't get it to work (W11, Chrome / Firefox / Edge).
  17. BTW, if you did want to watch this stuff, use Brave browser as it blocks all the advert videos and therefore one of the income streams, if you’re that way inclined 🤐
  18. In my opinion, content like Train Terminal should be easier to find when you don’t know what it is, always helps 🙈
  19. It’s all a form of click bait to get more income from YouTube. Some channels make a small fortune, don’t think these are in that league though.
  20. Thank you for your suggestions, all is welcome to me Yes, for iOS a soft restart / or forced restart is usually the preferred method to resolve issues, being only one step away from a full factory reset and restore, but I'm sure you've got that T shirt I have tried a normal power off and forcing closed all other apps but its not made any improvements.
  21. Hello @The Last Ninja, thank you for your most relevant reply and information. To keep this thread clear, I've replied back to you in the original discussion thread for this problem: https://community.hornbyhobbies.com/topic/35259-app-crashes-too-many-dongle-locos/?do=findComment&comment=375611 @96RAF, my OCD wants to keep this bug report thread clear of discussion as I've done above, but happy to follow any precedence.
  22. Hello @The Last Ninja, thank you for your reply below in the bug thread as I feel this may be the route cause of my issue: I confirm that I'm using V1.3 of the app, have added 60 locos to the dongle device (all with unique images), all assigned / active. Other than the dongle I've 5 other active TXS devices. At 40 locos Manage Devices/dongle would crash but at least the Engine Shed was still functional, but at 60, that stopped too. It does seem related (in my opinion) to the V1.1 bug you mention, but is now showing up when adding a number of locos to the dongle device. I understand the dongle side was tested up to 127, but not sure if that was with unique images? As things stand I am now effectively locked out of the Engine Shed and Manage Devices/dongle, as the app will crash. I therefore cannot deactivate dongle locos to get things working again. I've pulled off the crash logs and will send over to George so the team can look at what's happening. On a personal note, I just hope this can be resolved with an app update, otherwise I've just lost an hour or so adding those locos!
  23. I'm well impressed, especially the two tiers!
  24. I guess at the end of the day the Plux22 decision will come down to a profitable business case. If there is one, I'm sure they will consider it at some point in the future. Personally, I'd like to see a move to one standard connector and that's it, would make life easier when working out which decoder to buy.
