  1. Jimyjames, the Centenary Limited Edition models that Hornby are releasing this year, are presents to themselves. They are not straight releases, as they come in older style boxes and some the are models are gold plated. Some models such as Smokey Joe contain more detail than the usual Smokey Joe that we are all used to and has sepertaly fitted handrails and a lot more detail.

In regards to the Flying Scotsman Train Set in thr green branded box, I ntoiced that the Flying Scotsman locomotive on it's own as part of the Hornby RailRoad range, now comes in a green branded box. It's jist because it's a Flying Scotsman product, as she is famous steam locomotive.

  3. I own Hornby Thomas & Friends R9684 Murdoch, which uses the Hornby RailRoad Class 9F tooling and the detail on him is excellent. It's amazing that it is a RailRoad model to be honest with you. The Hornby RailRoad range models are supposed to be have less detail and are supposed to be less delicate, but I doubt there's mich difference detail wise to the Hornby standard range Class 9F tooling and the RailRoad model. I expect there is a difference, but it can't be much, I am sure.

  4. It was very pleasant to read your review of your experience, Freypal. However, I do believe that Hornby Hobbies do not read the Hornby Forum, so unless you email them this, they probably will never see it, never mind read it.ย  ๐Ÿ˜€

  5. Burribro, welcome to the Hornby Forum.ย  ๐Ÿ˜€

I suggest try replacing the motor, rather than replacing the locomotive. The motors fitted to the R9287 Thomas' are clearly faulty and I am a replacement motor was probably not made on the same production line as these Thomas' were.

Hornby Thomas contains the Type 7 Motor and here is one for on eBay and they are not terribly expensive either: eBay -ย HORNBY SPLINE SHAFT MOTOR TYPE 7 FITS VARIOUS PACER TYPE MABUCHI NEW.

  6. To me, glue is glue. Granted, thereโ€™s better types than others, but I would say any glue is amazing. Itโ€™s handy to have somewhere when itโ€™s needed, but Iโ€™m not likely to become a collector of the stuff, anytime soon!ย  ๐Ÿ˜†ย  ๐Ÿ˜‰ย  ๐Ÿ˜€ย

  7. This model is limited edition of 500 models, not 250. These will be highly collectible models when they do arrive on the factory. A lot of them are throwbacks to yesteryear and I can see most models selling for a lot on eBay in the future. I will not be surprised if any of this year's limited edition models sell out through pre-order.
