  1. Ikcdab, welcome to the Hornby Forum.  😀

Sadly, the 2015 and 2016 made models have many known faults. R9287 Thomas the Tank Engine locomotive was produced during this period of time and the Thomas model seems to be suffering from the motors burning and also the conrods falling apart.

I think the best solution in regards to the motor, is buy a replacement motor rather than replacing the locomotive. The reason for this is, as the replacement Thomas will probably also burn his motor out, as many of them have done and there's many complaints about it happening.

  2. I have had some my locomotives longer than 10 years and none of them have had motor changed since I have owned them. Most locomotives I own, were bought new, but I couldn't tell you how long I have had any of them running for, since I have owned them. The longest I run them for is probably 30 minutes maximum and that only the half speed on the controller or less. I never run any of the locomotives past the half speed on the controller to the maximum speed.

That's a nice locomotive shed you own, JJ. What's the product number of it? I assume it's a Hornby product?

For all we know yet, R7283 may have opening doors. That image you posted your original post to this topic, may be a prototype image, but I am not sure if if it is or not.

I like your images, but they are affecting myself. Let me explain.  😀

The reason the images are affecting me, is becuase either the brake coach is behind the locomotive, but then there's no second brake coach at the end of the train, plus the brake coach and / or the composite coach is the wrong way around.

  5. If Hornby still owned the Thomas & Friends license and had released a Dübs Crane Tank No. 4101 tooling, they could have used that to release Harvey I hwould have bought a Hornby model of Harvey in a heartbeat, if Hornby had done.*

    * I suppose you cen tell that I am dreaming again!  😆  😉  😀

  6. @Chrissaf

I was thinking the same thing when I first found this post. That's the problem with the image approval system, but if the Community Moderators could approve images, they use the fourums more or less all of the time, so images would be approved very quickly day and night, even the holiday seasons.

Let's just hope the original poster (Hornby Attic), does come back to find his / her's thread, otherwise the replies here will be quite pointless and useless really. It's more or the less the same situation, who posted their first post with an image, requiring it to be approved.

  7. Thank you for the update Chris.  😀

Putting in a request for a tempoary adminstartor was a good plan. So many new threads have appeared today (Wednesday 15/01/2020) and some of them ahve already gone over the the second page of the General Discussion sub-forum. Any longer awaiting for images to approve and there will be just simple too many new threads. Could you imagine how many posts there would be to aprprove, if nobody had done it for another month if not longer?!  😆

  8. Hornby Attic, wlecome to the Hornby Forum.  😀

Please could you provide us with the 'R' product number those Hornby locomotives, so they are easier to look up what they are worth? You shoud find these on the sides and / or on the rear of the boxes.

  9. Hi m_duck.  😀

I wanted the 2015 / 2016 made express coaches, to go with the newer locomotives, plus the coaches do have minor differences to the older releases.

Have fun finding the composite coaches!  😆  😉  😀

Those were good finds of unused examples of R.382 Duck, R.383 Gordon and R.852 James, made in Great Britain models. Hard to get in good conditoon now.

I'm not really interested in the Hornby Harry Potter products, but all buildings and platform needed to complete the Hogsmeade Station will cost a lot! None of them are particually priced well, een though they are resin and are from a licensed film series.
