  1. I am so pleased that Hornby re-printing retro boxes with old lost logos on. I never thought they would ever do that, even though I suspected that Hornby would bring back some very old models this year. I can't these all get released, to see this boxes and the models of course!  😆  😉  😀

I can't wait for the Smokey Joe locomotive. I can see that selling for a lot on eBay, in the future.

  2. Hornby are making a big thing about their 100th Anniversary, as I though they would. They are releasing some cracking products this year, including some re-released retro classics from the past 100 years.

I am also fasinated and really happy that Hornby are using very old logos, such as Tri-ang Railways, Hornby-Dublo and Hornby Railways. They are also bringing the same box syles and printed designs, to release some of the nostalgia, that they came with originally.

Let me post the three products that I am certainly will be buying this year, for sure, without fail!:

    • Hornby Railways R3822 56025 'Smokey Joe', Centenary Year Limited Edition 1980
    • Hornby R6986 Hornby 2020 Centenary Year Wagon - LWB Box Van
    • Hornby R8159 Hornby 100th Anniversary 2020 Catalogue - Sixty Six Edition
I can't wait for the Smokey Joe locomotive, the first proper well detailed release, of the iconic Hornby locomotive.

This year's Hornby Year Wagon disappoints me as it's basic and from the Hornby RailRoad range, but the livery it's in fantastic, nevertheless.

Please feel free, to share your thoughts of the products announced today, what you are looking forward to and what you are not looking forward to!

  3. You might be able to find a copy of that magazine issue on eBay.

    UPDATE:

I have just searched eBay and there are none of that issue for sale. As Chris (Chrissaf) above has mentioned, you will have to look for other model railway forums, as a trade / sale cannot be made here.

  4. Rivarossi is Hornby Hobbies' HO brand and I believe HO favours OO in the USA. I do not see why either will contain different, particulally if both have the same product numbers. I am guessing the models will still be OO, but boxed as HO. I can't see why Hornby would rescale for only a slight difference.

  5. I still haven't viewed the Hornby 'New For 2020' range. All day I have been trying, but the website won't load and then when it does, it crashes. I have made it on to the forum at last, which I have also something I have not been able to get on. Every year this happens, on the new range day!  🫨  🤔  😆  😉  😀

  6. The 0-4-0's released more recently in the Hornby RailRoad range contain the same chassis and motor, as the older Hornby 0-4-0's have. However, around 4 -5 years ago, Hornby changed the gearing in them to slow them down, as they previously, they ran much too fast. I think they are better as they are now.

I am unsure if you need a new controller. I don't think you do, but let's wait for somebody to come along to answer that, who knows more about controllers, than I do!  😆  😉 😀

The Christmas train set from the 2000's you have, is that Hornby R1046 The Christmas Special Train Set?
