  1. I view that short report as very positive - £12m worth of stock in hand to shift, that is a lot of models.
  2. You cannot and will not ever be able to read/write legacy decoders OTA by way of any gizmo, as they need to be on a programming track and addressed in service mode. That is a serial sequence whereas the OTA read/write is via a completely different protocol within the firmware of the HM7K decoders and not present in a standard dcc protocol.
  3. Direct acc control is available using HM6010 modules, but as stated control of legacy acc devices (R8247 and other makes) from the app via the dongle is in the nearer future.
  4. The reset procedure is in the manual. I can't remember the exact button presses, so best you read it rather than I get it wrong and confuse you. Unfortunately a unit reset will scrub any favourites and names you have entered. Individual loco address and custom settings will be retained in the decoders.
  5. I am sure the question has bern answered before and the port is the same but for Loconet not Xpressnet. Have a search for EZ command .
  6. Try a unit reset of the Elite as often that puts all the ducks in a row again and sorts out odd issues. Also check that if using power clips or power tracks to connect your Elite and/or connect loop to loop, that they do not have capacitors, despite what any label may say.
  7. If it is the A1/A3 profile F19 should be a bell with F18 as an air pump. If it is the A1/A3 FS profile F19 is water filling and F18 will be Scotland the Brave.
  8. Folk get confused by the chuff versus wheels synch thing. The chuff is the force of the steam exhausted from the pistons (plus firebox products) coming out of the chimney and this varies on the real thing according to load, regulator and cut-off setting, coupled with the opposing pistons are 90 degrees out from each other, different for 3 cylinder than 2 or 4 cylinder.
  9. The 6000 has 2 x twin pronged plugs, so you can plug these into a choc-block strip and divide out from there to a bus for each loop if extensive, else they simply plug into the power tracks. Fishy - I was reading on the authoritative Facebook (posted by an American) saying that motor suppression was only needed in Uk and those other places that use 220-240v 50Hz, and that they didn't need it as they were 110-120v and 60Hz. Sounds kosher to me 😵‍💫 ⚡️👨‍🎓
  10. The 6000 module is essentially a pair of loco decoders but rather than power a loco motor direct they power the rails which power the loco. From that you can see either type of power track is suitable as there is no DCC signal on the rails.
  11. If you think his videos are biased simply to generate clicks to enhance personal gain report him to you-tube, his sponsors and any other associated agency and if substantiated you could get him shut down. No doubt Hornby and others have their legal guys looking at these things to gauge any future action they think necessary.
  12. Correct ref everything should just work, but the encoders are bought in parts so the resistance to turn while press is a component design problem, not Hornby.
  13. The only reason to use the @username e.g. @Fishmanoz is to send a notification to that user that they have been called out in a post, but only if they have notifications enabled. No other reason.
  14. The Elite teardown report on my website details replacement of the speed 'knob' encoder. This is a rate dependant encoder, which means the faster you turn it the more output it gives. Coupled with that the click detent against turning does wear and a new encoder will have a stronger 'click' when turned. My technique against inadvertent turning upon click is to turn the knob with finger and thumb of one hand and click with the other hand. Reluctant buttons is a well known problem and is due to corrosion forming on the motherboard contacts from little use. Operating the button very many times will polish off any oxide and return the button to use. The self test is a handy tool when doing this as it instantly shows if the button is working or not.
  15. I guess that when the beta test team has them in hand and rung them out and they are considered ready for release then they will be. This is an open ended excuse.
  16. @P-Henny and @Topcat1707821625 are still listed as members, noting that there are many topcats including @topcat and the original member of that name has been lumbered with an auto-suffix. Those worried about any member can send them a personal message direct from the forum and dependant upon their settings they will see it in their forum mailbox and/or their regular email inbox.
  17. At least now you can make multiple directed quoted posts and if you requote the whole post the window rolls up so as not to steal, the whole reply page. Edit - if you highlight a bit of original text there is a pop up option to quote that selection, or you can copy a bit of text then click the quotes icon in your reply and paste your selection there. Same effect at day's end.
  18. 1 amp PSU will run 2 or 3 locos. 4 amp PSU will run up to a dozen, so yes it is recimmended.
  19. As I said earlier there have been several such reports and the matter is being investigated. When a fix is sorted it will be rolled out.
  20. Thanks - stick with Plan A - get the Select updated by Hornby and run it from the P9300 4-amp PSU. Dongle switch in the app (as my image) is then set to Select.
  21. It appears to depend upon if the transfer software on the old-new devices is a copy over or clone method. The clone is more akin to when you migrate your PC hard drive to a new drive, whereas the copy over method takes some stand alone data such as images and documents but not all data such as held within apps.
  22. You keep on about the Elite. Which controller are you wanting to update. The Select is return to works but the Elite can be updated by the user. The Elite is provided with a 4-amp PSU whereas the Select has a 1-amp PSU but it can use the 4-amp unit. Both controllers can use the dongle but you must set the app switch to the relevant controller. Please clarify what you are actually using else the advice you will get is likely to be wrong.
  23. It means I have done it. Yes there have been several similar forum reports suggesting a meshing problem. Their response is to use the unlink/relink method, until the results of their investigation are firmed up.
  24. This seems to be a recent glitch. Pushed up to Hornby for comment.
