  1. Note different shaft diameters... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/254914467987 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/225688712429 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252386883238
  2. @What About The Bee - at that stage I would have bailed out and gone down the pub. I applaud your skills and application. Good luck to further progression.
  3. I am a dyed in the wool vintage model aircraft boy from day 1, then it was Airfix slot cars, none of the toy Scalex that was about then. Although as a RAF apprentice I used to ride behind all the ECML thorobreds in the early 60's when travelling home on leave, but then they started to introduce those boring diesels like the Deltic prototype. Then came a family life until I jokingly said one day I never had a train-set as a kid. We were too poor then and only one 'rich' kid in the street could afford a train-set, so all us kids would watch him running it on the kitchen table, but we were only allowed as far as the back door. Needless to say for my 60th birthday up popped a 'VSOE Boxed Set' and I was hooked. Early days of digital when I converted the MN included in the set. The only Hornby decoder was the awful R8215 and after contacting Hornby about multiple problems they set me up as a beta tester and I have been doing it since. Select, Elite updates, pre-introductory testing of R8245 Sapphire, R8249, TTS, HM6K and HM7K and who knows what else, some of which fell by the wayside, like the Select-a-Link cable, eLink Xpressnet port mod, etc. One good thing is I have the kit to do hardware updates on such as Select and R8247 acc decoders. In between times I got involved with our ex-RAF apprentice old boys network and was 'conned' into volunteering to write and run a web site for them, as well as co-ordinate the design and manufacture of a stained glass window for St George's church at RAF Halton. Bit of a learning curve to scramble up there. Aside from that many moons ago I did some development work on a software package called UK Rail Director, written by Train Sim ace Matt Peddlesden, who wanted to see if he could control trains by voice control, long before RM introduced it. In that package you had to draw your own track-plans in code, generate your own databases, make the link files, etc. Another learning curve to climb. Much later along came TGG written by the brilliant Stingray, and I am proud to be a member of the small group who are allowed to run the package. An absorbing hobby to say the least.
  4. The post is held for approval due to including the word "Hitler' which is on the profanity list and could be used out of context.
  5. Does the motor turn smoothly if you spin the worm drive with the motor out of mesh. I believe the TT120 motors are the N20 type, widely available on-line with and without various gearboxes and cheap.
  6. Has it got a decoder fitted or if not are you feeding it dcc track power. If so that would account for the motor apparently turning when it is reversing direction many times a second.
  7. You can operate vent vans from the app via a dongle and dcc controller. They can be hard wired to a bus and hidden behind a bush or in a building, etc. Maybe ambient sound modules will be a future bluetooth product.
  8. There are 2 x TTS VentVans with various background noises. Download the user manuals (leaflets) for them in the support section to see which sounds are in which van.
  9. Hornby Hobbies provides the hardware - controllers, decoders, etc. RM is a software product provided by, sold by, and supported by HRMS and they have no direct link to HH. As your 'problem' is software related then customer services is correct in pushing you over the HRMS. If it can be shown that the decoder is duff then the decoder comes back within George's bailiwick.
  10. Complete cobblers - All RM does is read from and write to a dcc decoder, no different to any other decoder. The only difference being RM maintains a catalogue of decoders so it can post up a custom list of CVs used by that decoder. There is no need to read any decoder in RM, just write blind to whichever CV you want to change. I might suggest you have the decoder installed wrong. It is possible to mount it either Compact or Reversed - see the famous manual. If installed incorrectly then it will not work. If your other 7K decoders are working OK then do as Fishy suggests and see if George will replace it without the need to return the duff one.
  11. The forum overall is being reviewed in attempt to make navigation easier as at present the 'breadcrumb' trail is incomplete making reverse navigation by selection of step back along the route impossible. Also if you have selected 'Unread content' by any link this currently shows all 3 forums' content. It is hoped to be able to limit this to a chosen forum once past the 'All Brands' page. Once you are in a brand forum then selecting Forum (next to Gallery on the red banner) keeps you within that brand forum, with the tick box filter.
  12. You use the change over switch on the mb1 - the top 3 terminals.
  13. The dongle should take host as priority but it shouldn't dump the decoder, in fact it should reinforce the mesh for it. Nor should using the app to control a TTS loco via the dongle cause a drop-out. CV227 app problem run up the chain to Hornby, but you should be able to change the setting via the Elite by use of PoM to save having to use a programming track.
  14. Send them a direct message. That's what the system is for.
  15. You add it same as any other unlisted loco. Type in all the functions by hand. Or you could wait for the impending update from HRMS that may include the Turbomotive profile.
  16. No and you were never told to use a4c13801 either The generic is stand alone for any decoder, else it is the standard precursor a4c13800 plus your decoder last 4 as advised.
  17. Just power it down and restart everything. I thought that glitch was fixed. The password is always the same for each decoder based upon its MAC address. It should a4c13800xxxx where xxxx is your decoder's last 4 digits. Generic password if still working is Reset1234
  18. Such auto-trains could at a maximum have 2 coaches either end of a central loco. @What About The Bee is more likely thinking of Motorail trains, where cars would be driven onto one end via an oblique ramp, promenading thru' the train to exit at a similar ramp at the other end at the destination. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motorail_(British_Rail)
  19. Run thru' the troubleshooting guide.. One thing to check in the meantime is read CV19 which should be zero. If not set it to zero. The other thing to check is if you are using a long address that CVs 17 / 18 correctly translate that address - use an on-line calculator to check.
  20. The on-line manual gives no indication of the trip current or sensitivity. As for cheap $50 is not exactly peanuts. If you haven't already read it you may wish to view this guide, which explains more about trip currents, etc. -
  21. If you contacted them via RM you should get an ack email within minutes thus proving your in-app attempt had worked. The follow up reply would be as and when. If you emailed them direct at support@rail-master.com you would simply get a reply as and when. As stated by @Britannia Builder the best way is to load the demo and try to register, whereupon the auto 'used before' dialogue kicks in.
  22. Superb layout with great scenics @Rallymatt
  23. Just be aware the built in speaker is connected into circuit via spring contacts whereas the aftermarket decoder speaker is plug wired. With the original speaker removed and the 'box' speaker replacing it make sure you don't short anything out by inadvertent contact with the loco circuit board.
