Nice t-shirt. Not sure why I don't have one of these. I should do really. I suspect it it will come in handy, for when you build your next layout. Saying that, it might not be, as the track diagram is on the rear of the t-shirt and I know nobody who can turn their head in all directions, without moving their body!  😆 😉 😀

Perhaps you could wear the t-shirt back-to-front. This would be more helpful! You could even wear the t-shirt upside down, if you wanted to!  😆 😉 😀

  2. I see you have piccked up the 2019 tooling of the Terrier Class, Brian. Nice purchase, well done.  😀

It's a shame that Hornby no longer have the Thomas & Friends license, as Hornby could release a really nice third generation Stepney, with this tooling. Then again, it would probably be too delicate for the Thomas & Friends range. Bother!  🤔 😆 😉 😀

  3. Live Steam was popular at first, but it's complicated set up and running, soon lost it's popularity, giving it a bad name; I do think this a reason why it departed so quickly and why it won't come back.

If the Live Steam range was brought back in O Gauge, your probably looking at a retail price of £1,500.00, realistically. Hornby don't produce anything in this gauge, so probably won't happen. I can't really see Live Steam coming back.

  5. I very much doubt Live Steam will be making a return. I will eat my top hat if it does and I don't even own one!  😆 😉 😀

I believe they are expensive to produce and are very diffcult to control, with many people didn't and still don't know how to run them, so they were boxed up and put away; In some cases, even sold on. In around 2004, these were priced by RRP, of around £500.00, so with inflation and what not, I am guessing Live Steam locomotives would cost near £1,000.00, or over easily. I very much doubt the return of the Live Steam range, for these two reasons.

If Live Steam did make a return and that's a very BIG if, I am guessing that the same kind of locomotives would be released. I would never expect some sort of small tank engine, not even an 0-6-0, as there simply would not be the space for all of the mechanism for the locomotive to have live steam.

  6. There's a lot of difference between The Railway Series and the Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends / Thomas & Friends TV series'. For example, the express coaches in both are different colours.

The Hornby and Bachmann Trains models are based upon the TV series, rather than The Railway Series, which is something that the owners want, hecne why not many characters that have only ever appeared in The Railway Series have had a model railway compatible product released.

  7. Mar Mallard, if you would like me to post an image of the wonky tender wheels on R9292 Henry's tender wheels, then please ask me. I am happy to do this for you. You will then be able to see what you are looking for, when you do bring Henry out of the box. 😀

  8. The thing I recommend you do with R9292 Henry before you run him is check the con rods. If they seem too loodd, tighten them up with an R913. Also, check the tender wheels. The tyres are not glued to the inner plastic green wheels properly. If yours has this issue, which it will as I couldn’t find one for sale without the issue, the wheels will need gluing. I took mine to my local model shop for me and they glued the wheels togeftger for me. The tender don’t run properly or at all until the wherls are fixed.

I agree, the 2015 and 2016 Thomas & Friends range are rubbish in terms of quality to the rest of Hornby products. Hornby Thomas products made before 2015 were brilliant and was rare to find faults. The newer stuff has problems in all areas; Assembly issues paint scratches / chips, loose con rods which fall apart after about 10 minutes of running; Wonky wheels on R9292 Henry's tender.

Now the issue of spares is arising, which does not exist as of yet. Even though they no longer hold the license, I hope spares will come up for sale, otherwise people who have the newer models won't be able to run them without traction tyres, if they are prone to snap.

  10. This why the R9289 Edward, R9290 James and R9291 Gordon all should have been locomotive driven. When these were announced in back in 2015, I hioped that they would loco driven, which eleminate this traction tyre issue. They are, not as three all have the same tenders and the same motors fitted which for manufacturing purposes brings the costs down. However, this brings another problem of spares, such as traction tyres which are inexistant at the moment. There appears to be no spares made at the moment for any of the Thomas products made in 2015 and 2016, which terrible to be honest  with you. I hope stuff starts arriving soon. When and if it does, I will stock up.

  11. I came across the Oxford Rail Railgun today, on the Hatton's Model Railway website today and I generally didn't know that they were ever to going to release and that they ahd done. It's the most oddest thing I have seen for a long time. It looks like soemthing from Star Wars or something! Looking into it, I have found is / was real and is from World War II. I am unsure if any still exist in real life.

Does the Oxford Rail Railgun have a motor, as it's just shy of £50.00. It appears by first glance of Internet photos to be quite expensive, but then again it looks like it has lots seperately fitted pieces. Perhaps if I saw the model in real life, then I might agree with it's price tag.
