  1. Such a shame, that's 3 traders that I use/d gone in 12m. Its not sustainable!
  2. Locomotion does look really interesting but also based on my "Tigers" experience could be so so delicate, especially the connecting rods. Time will tell wink
  3. Over the holidays I decided to switch to Microsoft Defender. Immediately it has taken a dislike to the RailMaster setup file for 1.74 Rev 5 and flags up a threat "HackTool:Win32/RemoteAdmin!MTB" which I've had to "allow", (also touched on in This thread ). Defender now nags me every day that a Hack threat still exists even though its "allowed". I could just delete the setup file although I do like to keep copies to return to if problems with a future update. Is it just me, but I feel quite uncomfortable in this day and age that the RM Setup file has had this added to it in the first place. It's not right is it?
  4. Following a "lucky boy" Christmas I've added further locos to RailMaster. All are fitted with HM7000 decoders although that is not relevant to this issue to be honest. The problem I had is that when two (or more) locos have functions switched on, every time I try to control another with a shunt/cruise/stop command, all its functions, e.g. lights / AFC etc, get reset even though they are still green in RailMaster. A right pain! After many hours of research and testing on this, I've eventually managed to resolve the problem going back to a forum thread from 2017 and information from the late great Chrissaf. Original thread for reference: RailMaster Loco Limit In summary, RailMaster does not seem to like it when the database has more than 64 locos, unless split up into smaller groups of less than this. One of the smaller groups must also be selected when RM was previously closed, otherwise it doesn't work. The original thread didn't mention Functions but loco control issues, in my case loco control worked but Functions got messed up. Maybe there was attempt to fix this all this in 1.74 rev5 but only partially resolved it? What is also essential is that once the problem has occurred, Elite MUST be power cycled as restarting just RailMaster doesn't clear the problem, even if you have selected the smaller group! Took ages to work that one out! After spending so long on this I thought I would post an updated thread to help others who end up in the same boat. (I've only tested this with an Elite, so not sure if relevant to eLink, but suspect it will be).
  5. Thank you @96RAF and @Britannia Builder for your replies to my message. After further research and testing today, I've now confirmed that my loco control with F28 problem is not related to this tread afterall. I'll raise that as a new thread as it could help others who had my issues. Thanks for the tip to switch some other on/off function first, it works fine on my setup too. I've also got the program working to enable all my loco AFCs, quite simple in the end, an F28 request followed by a dummy (eg F22) from the same F group as recommended by @St1ngr4y many moons ago to help ensure function commands are not missed. The F28 function button correctly shows green too after the program. I'll also raise this F28 as an issue. Edit: now sent, said successful but not had a confirmation email.
  6. Whilst researching my issue, I came across this thread and can confirm its findings are also applicable to the Elite. For me, having to press the AFC on/off button twice in RailMaster would be ok, if the next stage worked, but it doesn't, ie, as soon as I press the RM locos Stop button, or request Shunt/Cruise etc, it must issue a F28 OFF, as the AFC function immediately switches off requiring a further 2 presses of the F28 button. From then on, it all works fine until you reboot or have a 2nd AFC loco and the whole process then starts again. RM really does seem messed up when it comes to F28 / speed buttons! As a workaround, I've found that after a reboot, I just need to press Stop, then AFC twice, then everything works fine! So then I thought I'd just write a simple program to replicate the latter sequence (Stop + AFC twice). This though is different again, you only need to issue AFC once, no double action needed and the button will also be green. However, even if I include a stop command in the program, as soon as you press the locos speed buttons manually, AFC always turns off again. I cannot find a work around to make the program work as I want, what a mess! In summary, I feel Program control is working as it should, its the first operation of the manual speed buttons that mess up F28. Any clues on all this? Edit: I've scrubbed text I've now confirmed as not linked to the OP and will raise as a new thread.
  7. Good call, Hornby lion dcc decoder
  8. Generally I had no issues, just needs very delicate handling! Lay the loco on its left side and remove one base screw as per instructions. The uncovered PCB needs pulling out just enough to remove the <awful> insulation tape wrapped around it and the blanking PCB. The latter can then be removed. Fit a (Next18-pin) decoder, e.g. R7345 HM7000-N18TXS and then wrap the decoder and original PCB with tape to insulate it up again (my preference is Kapton Polyimide Tape). When refitting back into the loco, take care not to trap existing wiring. The loco is pre-fitted with a speaker so no need to worry about that side of things. The biggest issue to watch is that this loco has amazing detail but comes with that is it's very easy to damage and break something off. My front coupling hook was already loose in the box and the whistle on top of the boiler I damaged when laying on its top side, hence my advice to lay on its left as this has less parts that could be damaged. Overall, go for it, the loco is amazing with the handling caveats above.
  9. @mikee, you were right to ask the question. From a Hornby Facebook post today: ”Hello, we apologise for any inconvenience. Unfortunately, we've made the decision to discontinue our wallpaper offerings. The last one being December 2023.”
  10. I seem to remember Simon Kohler said 2023 was a catch-up year. Will listen with interest, especially on who they will front as the face of Hornby now that SK has left.
  11. On the topic of the "Request Reset key..." form, I had a need to use it last week but when pressing the green tick, nothing happens, the form stays as it is without being sent. Checked every field filled out as required and with AV / firewall off. Any other suggestions on how to get the form to work?
  12. I wasn't sent the Autumn edition this year, had to contact Hornby direct to be sent one.
  13. Merry Christmas, have a good one grinning
  14. When I've been stuck like this I've gone into Manage Devices and then "unlink and delete" the problematic device (make sure you know the reset passcode first). Then re-add by a going through the Link Device process again. In my case, I no longer change CV's using the Elite or RailMaster direct, I just use the app.
  15. What power supply are you using? As a side point, I don't understand why Hornby fail to promote model features like these, i.e., their website listings for the coaches make no mention of lighting. Surely it's something they should be promoting, especially at that price. The Turbomotive is another example where the website listing doesn't mention lights or firebox glow. They need symbols like they used in the 70's wink.
  16. A really interesting read, thanks thumbsup
  17. They should appear as pending straight away unless you had only just signed up to the club. I would email customer services to get them added.
  18. Our tree arrived this week too, its much better than I was expecting and will plant in the garden in the New Year yum
  19. Just had a reply from Customer Services who have advised that a certificate is not provided with this loco neutral_face. Shame really as there are only 500.
  20. The sales email said "Don't miss out! There’s only 500 of these striking new models in stock, and they will sell out quickly." Umm, maybe the "in stock" means there is another 10,000 on order from the factory!? Edit, their Instagram post did clearly state limited to 500: Instagram post
  21. My CC 2MT (R3837) has arrived and I'm really pleased with it. (Bit tight in the tender though to get a HM7000 decoder and sugar cube speaker to fit mind you wink) The loco didn't come with a certificate saying 'x of 500' etc, are they no longer included? Earlier in the year the King Charles coronation class 66 loco did come with one though!
  22. Had the same issue, but works now wink
  23. My October 23 edition has also failed to turn up. Hornby CS now sending it to me, but they said it should have come from the publishers!
  24. FYI although may not be relevant, when I've had a case of 'dead' DCC or Bluetooth control, re-installing the profile did not fix my issue, it was only unlink/re-link that did.
