  1. Which controller are you using?........Have you tried turning the loco round on the track and running the other way?...........HB
  2. I'd be inclined to pop the body off and snip one leg of the little yellow capacitor across the motor terminals and then test run it........ColinB has mentioned previously that this component has been found to fail.......if there is no difference in performance then the snipped leg can be resoldered...HB
  3. @david_childs..........when you want to submit a post please scroll down the page and type into the Reply Box and hit the green button........please avoid using the Blue buitton, it simply repeats the previous post..........HB
  4. It is easily resolved by changing CV29 basically by adding 1 to the existing value..........that is of course if your controller is capable of reading/writing CVs........CV29 calculator here ............HB
  5. So, in conclusion, Rule of Thumb is --- RailRoad tender locos may or may not have pickups in the Tender..........HB
  6. @81F..........Steve, I use a 22 inch monitor on my Windows PC and a useful feature is to blow up the on-screen text by pressing & holding the Ctrl key whilst tapping the + key to get the required size........the - key does the reverse............HB
  7. You can look up all the Hornby TTS sound decoders on this website under the Shop banner then for the premium sound decoders look for ESU, Zimo, Howes Sound, Legomanbiffo available from various retailers..........HB
  8. I wonder if the current draw from those bulbs is greater than the decoder can handle......the R8249 notes state, for example, " If a motor requires as much as 400mA continuously then the function outputs combined should not exceed 100mA"...........HB
  9. If you are looking for a temporary solution, BluTac is the answer........it will hold the track in position for as long as you desire and is then easily removed and kept for re-use..........HB
  10. 14xxTank............have a browse at New Modellers shop, you may find a new substitute motor..........HB
  11. @Paramedic........You say DCC is enabled but did you mean DC is enabled. If so, how do you know that?........ I believe that TTS decoders now have DC running turned off when new which would explain why your model will not run on DC.........HB
  12. These N gauge Kato units seem to be popular.........look here ............HB
  13. Welcome to the Forum..........new track comes with one fishplate per rail fitted to opposing ends as per photo... /media/tinymce_upload/d7d7877759c231e31ba7915174c282f2.png but sometimes, when track is pulled apart a fishplate can stick to the wrong rail so, with fine nose pliers, should be pulled off and refitted to the correct rail. You can easily purchase a pack of fishplates in your chosen scale as spares. For the power track you have a choice of DC (analogue) or DCC (digital) and regarding points again a choice of Insulating or Electrofrog. To assist your foray into this hobby I would recommend you read Chrissaf's advice here......https://www.hornby.com/uk-en/forum/track-extension-pack-guide/?p=1 The guide is a download to your computer, probably into your 'downloads' folder HB
  14. Would help if you used the correct nomenclature..........magnets do not have "+" & "-". .......that's for electrickary.........Magnets have North poles and South poles.........so a train's magnetic couplings could be denoted as ---NS---NS---NS---NS......etc........ 😮..........HB
  15. Very true, Rob, but my method as described may well help solve the decoder fitting in the Hornby Radial for the OP.....HB
  16. Fitting a decoder in the Oxford Radial was quite simple, just needed 2 or 3 mm shaved off the plastic pillars that the socked was mounted on then fitted with an Omni DCC29 8 pin direct (£19.95)........this decoder is wrapped in a plastic sleeve so cooling is obviously not an issue..........HB /media/tinymce_upload/6ab188c9ae5f3ac8d74d37188cc1892e.png
  17. Does RailMaster list all Graham Farish N gauge locos in it's database or do you have to enter the details manually?..........HB
  18. This is the FS with the top off.........plenty of room for a basic decoder........I haven't tried to install a TTS with sugarcube yet but looks feasible if the speaker goes under the chimney...........HB /media/tinymce_upload/0bdb84bd4ced99f1332300431213921c.jpg
  19. @BB......this Lionel track is 55mm gauge so larger than G1........The Lionel track is available on Amazon and looks exactly like the track in the Hornby set, worth investigating if the OP needs more track........HB /media/tinymce_upload/f72dc4bc51e10f26a461e1e454b6c985.png
  20. First thing to check is the back to back measure of the drivers.........should be 14.5mm..........HB
  21. Taken from today's Hornby email.......note track gauge is stated as 55mm.......HB /media/tinymce_upload/48755b200e6dc2020d99ba9914fdf071.png
  22. I think he needs more lead in his pencil..... 🤐..........HB
  23. You can commission any design pointwork from Marcway Pointwork.net. .,......HB
  24. @Ads040..........why don't you download and use one of the free track planning progs then you can try out your designs..........look for AnyRail or SCARM...........HB
