I have found that changing CV150 to 1 has always resulted in smoother running in both Steam and Diesel versions of the TTS decoder.......HB

@John.........I have several TTS steam decoders and I have only ever changed CV150 to 1 and always achieved smooth running. I would suggest you return CV153 to default 215 and CV154 to default 115, do a test run and report back your findings........HB

I recently purchased R3711 Princess Marie Louise which is fitted with a permanently on firebox flicker. It is not controlled by the decoder. As a temporary measure I have wired an X9659 4 pin to an 8 pin plug and the loco runs very well, with the f/b flicker.........HB

The Bachmann DCC friendly points are known as 'Non-Isolating', cat nos Left hand 36-872, Right hand 36-873......they match the Hornby standard point in size. It is worth noting that these points still have a dead frog so will not negate the problem of short wheelbase locos potentially stalling whilst crossing but they do eliminate the need for 'point clips' Unfortunately the Peco Unifrog points are not yet available in the standard code 100 size.

Or if you just want to change the volume of the Exhaust/Chuff sound it is CV161 with a value range of 0 - 8 , default 4........HB

There will be a magnetic field around those two controllers that are so close to the track.

@justin Fletcher........to find a Service Sheet go the top banner 'Support & Advice', click Product Support then Service Sheets/Hornby, type the Rxxxx no or description in the search box & press enter. On the product page scroll down to a clickable PDF of the Service Sheet. This can then be printed for your neighbour......HB

The J36 TTS decoder would be the best match to the J83, both are 0-6-0 2cylinder locos......it is out of stock at present so would need to be pre-ordered either with Hornby or your favorite retailer.........HB

Yes you can run the RailMaster software on W10 professional........regarding point clips, these can be avoided by using Bachmann DCC points or Peco Unifrog, both are pre-wired specifically for DCC layouts........check the makers' blurb for detail.......HB

Keith........it's the same for all of us, it has been reported to the developers and will be fixed in due course along with a number of other known bugs.........HB

@The Duke.........on the previous Forum the photo size limit was about 2MB but I have just this evening posted on the "latest acquisition" thread with a photo of 3.53MB. I believe you are based in Spain so it may be there is a limit/problem on one of the servers on the way to Hornby.........HB

A Hornby Princess Royal class, R3711, "Princess Marie Louise" running in on the Rolling Road powered by a PP9 battery prior to installing an X9659 4 pin decoder wired to an 8 pin plug (just a temporary measure). A beautiful model.......HB

As you are just starting your investment into your model railway you may like to consider purchasing a 'Rolling Road' device such as the Hornby R8211. It serves as a test and programming track as well as for running in new locos. Ideal for testing after fitting a decoder. I have used mine for 10 years now and has proved to be a wise investment.........HB

This has not been my experience with either TTS or Loksound decoders in diesels. In every case I have to use Function 0 to turn the lights on at start-up. How have you come to this conclusion, Colin, are you able to do a diagnostic on the TTS circuitry?.........HB

If the sound is inconsistent and the lights are flickering I would suggest removing the body and checking that the decoder plug is fitted securely in the socket.........HB

Welcome to the Forum...........R1214 is the item code for the East Coast Express set and not the loco which is why it is dificult to find a service sheet but as this is a fairly recent model HSS 360 C will probably be the one you need. Download via the Help & Advice pulldown..........HB

Yes, definitely......you should consider soldering in an 8 pin socket to facilitate future changes of decoder rather than hard wiring.........HB
