  1. Rob........Lendon's have all the sheets from #1 listed..........HB
  2. Service Sheet 290D might help. Would be worth checking continuity from each wheel through it's pick-up back to the PCB and relevant pins in the DCC socket..........HB
  3. Welcome back Wobbly......HB
  4. Absolutely........... 😎.............HB
  5. I believe the majority of us over 65s are likely to be more direct in our conversation these days without taking offence easily...........I came across the expression "snowflake" the other day so looked it up...... Snowflake is a 2010s derogatory slang term for a person, implying that they have an inflated sense of uniqueness, an unwarranted sense of entitlement, or are overly-emotional, easily offended, and unable to deal with opposing opinions. I suppose the prevalence of Social Media is responsible for all this nonsense.......... 🤐............HB
  6. PSU = Power Supply Unit, the transformer that plugs into the wall and the Select....Have you allocated different adresses to each loco? i.e. 01, 02 & 04.....you miss out 03 as that is used by all new locos with a decoder fitted so you are expected to allocate your own number when you receive the new loco or decoder.....instructions in the Select Manual..........HB
  7. Definitely DCC for me, one lightweight sophisticated controller for 45 locos, all points fitted with point clips with no heat issues.........12 different makes of decoder all working as expected, lots of sound from TTS, Econami and Loksound........all my locos from Hornby,Bachmann, Dapol, Heljan run smoothly...... 😮 😆............HB
  8. Change CV150 to a value of 1...........this has resolved the jerky movement at low speed with TTS in dozens of cases on this Forum.......no point in discussing the quality of the motor if you haven't changed this CV first and reported the result...........changing CV150 to the alternative algorithm will not reduce the current to the motor.......HB
  9. @Froxtrot...........CV2 does not exist on a TTS decoder.........if you want to reset the decoder go to CV8 and enter a value of 8...........The chuff function is on/off via F1.........F17 is only used to toggle between Chuffing and Coasting..........all this info is detailed on the Sound Decoder Manual..........HB Rob just beat me to it 😆

    Check this list......... http://lestrainsjouef.free.fr/en/docs/parts/part_mot_HJ2000.html .........HB
  11. Their latest Price List is dated 01/06/20 and according to a correspondent on RMweb they are still trading...HB/media/tinymce_upload/4b87311c7998f17ef37dc80011466f03.png
  12. Is it not the case that the point wires, Red, Green & Black, are assigned differently to the Hornby point lever and to the Peco Point Motor?.....Hornby regard Black as common whereas Peco regard Green as common......if not connected correctly a short would occur.........HB
  13. It is easier to fit the Hornby R7274 4-pin decoder with just four wires..........Grey & Orange to the motor, Red & Black to the pickups........also remove the small yellow suppression capacitor, it is not needed on DCC.......here's one I made earlier...........HB /media/tinymce_upload/7674bb798a710dbcf8579af9cbdc6e21.jpg
  14. John..........might be worth contacting this seller to see if prepared to post to you en francais.......well priced and choice of lengths....... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Soldering-Solder-Wire-Fluxed-Core-DIY-Hobbyists-Electronics-60-40-Tin-Lead-Flux/123750831609?hash=item1cd01fd5f9:g:zOMAAOSwtbhcx2T9&var=424363260768
  15. @phil&sue.........have you tried resetting the Select? Press & hold the Stop button + the two arrow buttons. the LCD will display "C5" (Command Station) Press Select. The LCD will display "0" Press Select. The red LED will flash 5 times to confirm the settings. The LCD will display "03" and will now be restored to Factory settings.
  16. Talking to a Retailer this week it would appear that we are going to have to wait until the New Year before new stock becomes available, there has probably been a major holdup in Manufacturing...........HB
  17. Probably just due to the pandemic, new stock not being made for past 4 months and now loads of oustanding orders with all the retailers so all you can do is pre-order and wait patiently..........HB
  18. You'll find it here........... https://www.hornby.com/uk-en/bookazine?fbclid=IwAR29YRtVgKTHFaamvgUEucpwtjn5wtM3kQ2oMAR7C6h6pJ-9OHFGiv0HE2Y ..........HB
  19. "Can I, for example, use small magnetic joining strips on the sides of the rails? " Not with modern nickel silver track as it is non-magnetic..........HB
  20. The usual reason for this is that the decoder has received a corrupt signal making it think it is on DC so it shoots off...........easily cured by altering CV29 by deducting 4 from the current value ........probably easier to just write a value of 2 to CV29 (unless you use 4 digit addressing). This will disable DC running.......use the CV29 calculator here.......HB
  21. You can run your locos on analogue anyway, and the lights should work. There is no need to remove the decoders. Just make sure that DC running is enabled in CV29. .....HB
  22. You could try this..............It may be your "resources.mdb" file has been corrupted. Temporarily rename that file to "resources.old" and rename the "resources.bak" file to "resources.mdb" .then close and re-open RM....this should re-instate your previous database........HB
  23. In some cases the cranes straddled the track.......... https://www.flickr.com/photos/36670374@N04/32881575461/ ...........HB
  24. This is a Railroad class 08 into which I fitted an 8 pin socket sitting on sticky pads then the TTS sound decoder fits comfortably on top of the motor. A good size 'sugar cube' speaker is affixed behind the loco's radiator.......any other sound decoder of similar size or smaller would fit just the same.........not a difficult installation............HB /media/tinymce_upload/f3c598ffb6832f9b02c2f304eaa8fc57.png
  25. It would appear that Argos have an arrangement with Hornby that warranty claims should be directed to Hornby so best to contact Hornby Customer Service 01843 233512..........HB
